A blonde woman in her 40s wearing a Shivas band t-shirt and green sweater in front of a green door holds a copy of Chthonic Matter Quarterly. Text on the image says: Read some Chronic Pain Horror for Women in Horror Month “A Body Is Horror" in CMQ Winter 2025
📚 Have you read “A Body Is Horror” in Chthonic Matter Quarterly’s winter 2025 issue yet? Inspired by the horrors of chronic pain, medical gaslighting, rare diagnoses, & rural economic decay 🏚️💀

Me: The main character in Sister Midnight (directed by Karan Kandhari) first has to cope with an arranged marriage before muddling through, and then thriving, in her new ruthless, blood sucking form. Also the scene of her on the beach wearing sunglasses and holding a black umbrella, surrounded by colourful saris and happy people, is iconic
I'm on Gwendolyn Kiste's blog, sharing a few sentences about a horror character, for #wihm #wihm2026 #womeninhorrormonth www.gwendolynkiste.com/Blog/good-fo...

Cover of A Fragile Thing with blurb by Lee Murray beside it: One of the most versatile and talented horror writers of our day, Stephanie Ellis shines again, this time with A Fragile Thing, a darkly chilling novel of madness, mind games, and manipulation. Channelling Jekyll and Hyde in Jack the Ripper’s Whitechapel, where science and spiritualism seduce the upper classes and the streets stink of nightwalkers and nightcrawlers, ambitious Isaac Bercow attempts to root out the shadowy manifestations that plague his own psyche. Blurring the lines between illusion and reality, one thing is clear, Ellis dangles our darkest fears before us with mesmerising skill.”—Lee Murray, five-time Bram Stoker Award®-winning author of Grotesque: Monster Stories
