This is Callie. She is trained to accurately detect bowel cancer in order to provide rapid diagnoses through non-invasive testing. Some might call it lab work, but Callie is actually a sprocker spaniel. 14/10 incredible job, Callie (IG: medicaldetectiondogs)

Chemicals from turmeric and rhubarb could help fight antibiotic-resistant bacteria lurking in wastewater When people take antibiotics, some of the dose is excreted with urine and feces and ends up in our wastewater. The presence of this low dose of antibiotic creates an opportunity for resistant bacteria to evolve.

Natural compounds from turmeric and rhubarb have demonstrated potential to inhibit multidrug-resistant bacteria in wastewater, suggesting a possible strategy to address antibiotic resistance.

Top: Schematic of GP2 filaments, with labeled residue ranges of ZP domains and four N-glycosylation sites. Middle left: Cryo-EM map of GP2 filaments, color-coded according to the schematic above. The density of one of the flexible branches was indicated by a black arrow. Middle right: Atomic model of GP2 filaments, with five N-glycosylation sites marked by arrows. Bottom: Proposed model of GP2 filaments’ function in the digestive tract. The filament core of UMOD and GP2 is colored in dark blue and green, respectively. The EGF domains and D8C/D10C domains in the branches of both proteins are shown in grey and light blue, respectively. High-mannose N-glycans are colored in red. UPEC cells and their adhesive pilus are colored in pink, while the proteases (such as elastase) are colored in yellow.
