Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #DucksOutOfWater — any Duck that is out of the water but NOT FLYING.
These ducks are technically not in the water yet.
I have a hard time believing that the Iran war is really over and gas prices will be coming back down.
... but as someone who will be taking a (non-negotiable) 2,500 mile road trip at the end of May, I would dearly love to be miguided and wrong about this.

Thanks Luis!
Today seems like a good day to share a picture of the #moon.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #ManMadePerch. Here's a Say's Phoebe on a big metal grill ... with a bonus butterfly photobomb. 🪶
I can look at my phone for hours and my significant other doesn't say a thing (because she's doing the same thing).
But ...
If I'm sitting at the computer for more than about 20 minutes, I get harangued "Why are you always on that stupid thing?"
Why does screen size matter so much?
Thanks Luis.
#BirdOfTheDay theme is #Black&Red ... okay, how can I not go with this vermilion flycatcher from down by the river yesterday afternoon?
Roseate skimmer down by the river this morning.
Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Feathers. I wasn't a huge fan of house this picture of a cormorant came out, but the feathers are definitely a prominent feature.

Invasive Mosquitofish in the San Pedro river.
At some point in the past they were introduce for (as you might guess from the name) mosquito control. Unfortunately they crowed out native fish like the endangered Gila topminnow.

My oh my...

I almost grabbed my camera to get pictures of this, but then got distracted ... glad you captured it.
I am glad I deleted my twitter account in 2024, and would never go back. But I'm not sure how much I really fit in with some of the Bluesky crowd. For instance ...
I think using AI to make custom feed creation easier will be a useful tool here.
Also, you're not convincing me to ditch Substack.

Alt text: A close-up of a European starling perched on a mossy stone, its sleek plumage shimmering with iridescent greens, purples, and blues. The bird’s eye is closed mid-blink, giving a calm, almost statuesque feel. Its yellow bill contrasts with pink legs, while delicate speckling dots its wings. In the softly blurred background, budding branches with fresh green leaves hint at early spring.
Good morning. Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #tricolour , birds with three colours or more. The alt is #YearRound birds you see all year round. Good luck. #birds #photography #ECK
Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #tricolour , birds with three colours or more. When I lived in Oklahoma for a short time, I was delighted to learn that the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge (near Lawton) is a breeding ground for Painted Bunting.
