First images from last Mercury flyby were released yesterday! 📸 You can see Mercury's north pole in the first image while #Bepicolombo was flying over the terminator. The second and third images show the northern hemisphere of the planet. 🤩
More pics coming soon once released to the public!

#Bepicolombo did today its 6th and last flyby of Mercury. Closest approach was this morning at 06:58:52 CET, and the spacecraft was 295km from the surface! 🛰️🪐 Here's a pic taken 5.5 hours before closest approach 👇🏽👇🏽

¿Es 2025 el año de volver a ver LOST? Después de ver el documental en @filmin.es yo digo si.

And the second one 📸
Not as stunning as other flybys due to the distance to Mercury, but here are the images taken by #BepiColombo 📸
And what does this mean
100% brat y un poco gay
Infographic explaining BepiColombo’s fifth flyby of Mercury. In the centre of the infographic we see the spacecraft flying past the planet. On the left we see the inner Solar System in perspective, with the positions of Mercury, Venus and Earth indicated. On the right we see which of BepiColombo’s instruments will be activated during the flyby.
In a few hours #BepiColombo will do its 5th gravity assist (or flyby) around Mercury. This is the first time #MERTIS is going to observe the planet, and its the first time there will be a mid-infrared light observation of the surface of Mercury! 🤩 #BepiColombo (Infographics by #ESA)
Cero sorpresas la verdad.
And the second one 🎥 #BepiColombo #MercuryFlyby
Ups, just learned that @bsky.app doesn’t allow yet upload of custom gifs… therefore, let’s do videos! 🎥 #BepiColombo #MercuryFlyby
And stay tuned for more updates, as the next #MercuryFlyby #5 is happening in a few days, beginning of December 🤓
All these images are public. You can find them in the ESA Planetary Science Archive 👉🏻 archives.esac.esa.int/psa/#!Image%... 📸
The second one was taken a few months ago, last September, when #BepiColombo did its 4th #MercuryFlyby. It went down to just 165 km from Mercury’s surface, closer than any other spacecraft before 💪🏼 And you can tell by the level of details in the pics👇🏽
First one is from the #MercuryFlyBy #3 that took place mid June 2023, when #BepiColombo came down to ~236km from Mercury’s surface at closest approach👇🏽
I thought I’d share some animations I did few months ago just for the sake of “space” things up a bit in this app 🛰️🪐
OMG This was such a success 🥰
Oh, so we have to introduce ourselves? Fine, I am a queer engineer working in space operations. I used to send commands to the International Space Station and now I plan what a spacecraft is going to do in Mercury 🤓🛰️🪐
I was in a conversation last week where people were discussing the problematic side of Elon Musk and my comment was that women in the space industry have been talking about this for years. It’s not news to us, and while we appreciate and celebrate the success of SpaceX, the point below is important.
La reivindicación #LGBTQIA+ en ciencia dede ser transversal y equitativa. Lo que celebramos hoy se habla este viernes en #ESAC ⬇️ #PrideinStem

💫 Do not miss this opportunity of joining us in this interesting discussion and getting to know ESAC! 🤩
‼️The event will take place in English, both online and onsite at ESAC. For those coming in person, there will be a direct bus from Moncloa (Madrid) from/to ESAC. There will be a guided tour through the facilities before the event, and snacks and drinks after the panel 🍹
In this event, organized by the 🏳️🌈ESAC Out in Space group and the 👩🏽Women and Astronomy Committee (CMyA) of the Sociedad Española de Astronomia (SEA) we will count with the special presence of four great experts in STEM, who proudly represent the #LGBTQIA+ community in their field of expertise 🔬☄️🧮⚡️
