...so Maradona just put the ball back in the center circle and hit the crossbar once more

6 days ago 0 0 1 0

A friend of mine used to run track at San Paolo stadium in the 80s, sometimes overlapping with Napoli training sessions. One time Maradona put the ball in the center circle and bet one of the trainers he could hit the crossbar, which he proceeded to do. The trainer bet him he could't do it again...

One year of Maradona in Napoli is like an entire career of any other top class footballer. Miles ahead of everyone else. Insane.

Israel passes death penalty law for Palestinians convicted of lethal attacks Israel's parliament passed a law on Monday making death by hanging a default sentence for Palestinians convicted in military courts of deadly attacks, fulfilling a pledge by Prime Minister Benjamin Ne...

A death penalty for Palestinians but not for Jewish Israelis who committed similar crimes. That's apartheid.

And still not a red line for western States who will continue their policy of support; because if genocide is not a red line, what is?

The U.S. Said It Helped Bomb a Drug Camp. It Was a Dairy Farm.

Alongside the ongoing extrajudicial executions carried out illegally by the US regime, this bombing and brutalisation of innocent campesinos seems almost tame and unremarkable. Bad news for Ecuador though. This is a village in which I stayed on fieldwork years ago. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/24/w...

"Majority Clade Credibility tree results from the partitioned Bayesian analyses of the concatenated data set (cytochrome b,
MB, ODC) calibrated using three fossils. Numbers close to the nodes refer to maximum likelihood bootstrap support/concatenated beast posterior probabilities/species tree posterior probabilities. Values are indicated when at least one the three values was ≥70%, ≥0.95 or ≥0.95, respectively."

All 33 shrike species trace their roots to Africa ~8 million years ago, when C4 grasses exploded across the continent. Oh, and Magpie Shrikes? Just big Lanius. The first complete shrike phylogeny reveals Laniidae is basically one giant genus. doi.org/10.1111/zsc.... #2026MMM #RIP

People seem shocked that torture, repression and human rights violations continue in Venezuela as a US protectorate under puppet government 🤔. The main change since 3 Jan is simply that the authoritarian regimes of Washington and Caracas are now closely aligned with common goals.

Poster for a seminar - Talk abstract:
Vagrant birds were historically neglected in migration research due to their rarity and the limitations of early tracking methods. Yet, growing research shows that vagrancy can help us better understand several aspects of bird migration and its consequences. In this talk, I will show how abnormal migratory movements can inform key processes in bird migration, including the colonization of new territories, the emergence of novel migration routes, and the navigation systems of migratory birds.
