*Southport not Southampton! Yes, it's helpful that a lot of English church marriage registers are accessible online now, but sometimes there's no alternative.
Yes - an email service would be awesome! Even in Northern Ireland, it somehow takes a week (and sometimes two or three weeks) for them to get here from Southampton. It's so frustrating, especially when you're working to a deadline! #GenHour
OMG, what a legend! If only they had all done that! I wonder if they had some Scottish influence - the Scots were much better at respecting maiden names.
Mark your calendars for the release of the 1926 Census of Ireland on 18 April!

I am envious - no joy here yet!
I โค๏ธ the poem!
Goodness - so many interesting elements to that story! ๐ฒ
I have found that admins in Ireland can go either way. Sometimes they say "administration was granted to X", no context, end of. Other times they give a fantastic account of the extended family, like what you're describing in the US. I haven't found one that ran to 80 pages yet though! #GenHour
It's a shame that they clash. I am impressed by people with the stamina to do both! I'm going to RQG after speaking at @strathgenealogy.bsky.social's Irish Family Research Course earlier in the week ๐ so I won't have the energy to keep going to GOONS unfortunately. #GenHour

Interesting - thanks for sharing this. I suspect she is over-estimating the level of public support for law enforcement access to the commercial genealogy databases, especially outside the US.

We mentioned our keynote speakers before, but this yearโs conference features another thirteen distinguished speakers, each contributing specialised knowledge and original research in #genealogy and #familyhistory.

Heraldry! This is a huge family tree for William Cole, who established the Plantation town of Enniskillen. It asserts that he is related to many English nobility families, with wonderful illustrations of their coats of arms.

I had a great day today at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, at a conference about the Ulster Plantation. I think #GenHour folks will appreciate a few photos of things that genealogists love...
