In an interview on CBC right now: Gloria: Isn't the entry fee like $2.2 BILLION dollars? Ken Sim: Look, it's a big number, but it's a different world...
I had to turn it off.
Unrelatedly, in 2020 the city declared a homeless EMERGENCY. The word clearly means nothing to local government either.

This story is horrific. Worth noting that Target is not the only retailer using AI for theft prevention. Itâs an entire industry. And if youâre looking for alternatives that are safer to shop at in this regard, youâre very likely out of luck. Small, non-corporate businesses probably your best bet.

The massive Orban defeat should prompt Dems to align themselves more firmly with anti-fascist and pro-democracy forces abroad. There's a powerful link to be drawn between the celebrations in Budapest and the confrontations with ICE in Minneapolis. 1/

10 years of the public health emergency of toxic drugs. 10 years of a politics which maintains that addiction is a moral failure; that death is an acceptable price for using drugs. 10 years of a doomed war on drugs; of policy built upon political expediency over evidence. Today, we feel the grief and weight of this crisis. Today, we mourn the dead, and recommit ourselves to fight like hell for the living. EMILY LOWAN BC greens

The ceremonial and religious uses of psychedelics are much older than their recreational uses and abuses. For most of their history, they have been mysterious, dangerous substances and must be treated respectfully. - Humphry Osmond â AZ QUOTES

Have you worked in the provincial public sector in Alberta, Ontario, or British Columbia? The Puzzle of Discretion: Interrogating Change with Public Sector Workers We are researchers who would love to be in conversation with you about the role of discretion in shaping the impacts of work done in these sectors. Youâre eligible if you work or have worked in the provincial public sector in Alberta, BC, or Ontario, AND you work or worked in sectors of health, children and family services or education (K-12 and post-secondary). Your participation would involve filling out a short online questionnaire and participating in two online or in-person interviews of approximately 90 minutes each. All participants will receive a gift card as a way to thank you for your time, expertise and participation. If you are interested, please contact us here to find out more about the project: puzzleofdiscretion@proton.me Nisha Nath (Athabasca University) and Willow-Samara Allen (Royal Roads University) are researchers who have done work with provincial public sector workers to understand their experiences in pushing towards change in contexts marked by systemic racism and white settler colonialism. This project is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and has received approval by the Athabasca University Ethics Board (Project #15242462). The Athabasca University Research Ethics Office can be reached at rebsec@athabascau.ca.

A worker died at an Amazon warehouse in Oregon last week.
For more than an hour, workers were instructed to continue working as the man lay dead.
One worker wanted to help, but a manager told them to âJust turn around and not look. Letâs get back to work," according to @thewesternedge.bsky.social.
