Yes! Exactly my experience here in N.Wilts. Been mothing for 3 or 4 years, and this year is very disappointing, actually worrying, so far.

The @nationaltrust.org.uk only rarely ask their members to take political action, but when they do, itโ€™s seismic.

Please take the NTโ€™s action, email your MP demanding the Government protect 30% of the UK for nature by 2030: campaigns.nationaltrust.org.uk/page/186395/...

As predicted #teammoth, best night of the year, so far, although the bar was very low! Streamer, Least Black Arches, Oak-tree Pug NFY, and Acleris Cristana (Obs ?) NFG. Camera broke so relying on phone for photos!

#teammoth Looks like things might be turning a corner in my N Wilts garden tonight! Lots of flying insects around the trap, including this, first to settle, Least Black Arches.

I think it's the lack of moths!? Generally feels very subdued on the flying insect front. Not seen much in the garden at all, compared to previous seasons! ๐Ÿคžfor the months to come.

I haven't mentioned this before but last Tuesday I drew a blank in the trap in my N Wilts garden! Only thing that saved me was a Brindled Beauty tucked under the lamp holder and a DS Pug that miraculously appeared in the garage after I'd put the equipment away!

Thanks for the reply, Steve. It's good to know things are keeping steady elsewhere. Perhaps I need not worry.

That's good to know, Dave. Perhaps I need not worry. Thanks for the reply.

#teammoth I'm finding that no. of species is noticeably down this year compared to last at this point. It's roughly halved! Anyone else noticing this?

#teammoth One NFY in my N.Wilts garden last night - an Early Thorn. The only place it felt comfortable enough to pose was under the cover of my hand!

Exactly the same here! 5 years this month and still no mating action. Although it seems to be a popular residence during the summer and winter months!

Something that is not commonly seen. Something that provokes a question. A beautiful moth, great crested newt, a bat?

#FirstBirdOfMyDay Pretty much the same every day! A pair of Jackdaws on the nut feeder, working as a team. One on the nuts chucking them down to his partner below!

Watched Question Time @bbcnewsi.bsky.social last night because you were on the panel. Thankyou for answering the questions with your usual factual, intelligent and reasoned analysis. The studio audience certainly seemed to agree with this, judging by the applause!

At least there out there #teammoth ! However, disappointingly low numbers last night in my N.Wilts garden, probably because temps dropped due to sparce cloud cover. Just a Hebrew Character and Common Quaker saved the day! No pics - you know what they look like! ๐Ÿ˜„

Up and running #teammoth ! After a couple of optimistic trapping nights in Jan that drew blanks, last night the moths made a tentative appearance. Oak Beauty, Hebrew Character and a couple of Common Quakers.

A Robin is perched on a weathered wooden surface, its bright orange-red breast puffed up and beak wide open in full song. The blurred background creates a soft gradient of earthy tones, making the Robin stand out. With its legs firmly planted and feathers fluffed, it looks as if itโ€™s passionately delivering an important message to the world.
