#FirstBirdOfMyDay: Unidentified early morning silhouette – probably an American robin, but could have been a red-winged blackbird or a European starling. 🤷♀️

#FirstBirdOfMyDay - a pigeon softly cooing.
I'm late. That's because I spent time with loved ones.
Still healing.
Sending love to everyone who reads this. Particularly the lonely ones.
How are you?

A Robin, Great Tit and Blackbird welcomed a sunny Easter Day amid the joyous flowers of Springtime.

Surprisingly, there are a fair number of Jackdaws around right now although I do not often see them early…but today…. #firstbirdofmyday
I woke up before the sun and could already hear magpies carolling in the dark. Put my leg of lamb in a very low oven for family lunch and back to bed. My magpies turned up after lunch but my son’s dog beat them to the scraps. They weren’t amused. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
First bird of my day: the woodpigeon sitting on his favourite branch in the silver birch, having survived the overnight battering of storm Dave. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Eerily quiet first thing: perhaps everybody was having a lie-in after last night's winds. But then Mr Robin piped up in a bold bid for 1st place, followed by a Lapwing (who I don't think understood the game, really) and a Pheasant (who just found everything very startling (again)). #firstbirdofmyday
First birds of my day: a pair of Magpie investigating the front garden, while a trio of Herring Gull circled, yelling, overhead in the rosy pink and pastel blue dawn skies.

I heard wo jackdaws tchacking from a chimney but when I looked up there was only one and then POP there was none. Down the chimney they'd gone. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
A solitary Woodpigeon - (Columba palumbus)
perched on top of the apple tree.
I can't see, nor hear any other birds at the moment.

Happy Easter everyone.
First bird of my day. The herring gulls once again greet the morning with their own unmistakable calls that tell me I am home. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
I peer out of my window and the sky is completely empty … 🙀 until a Jackdaw launches itself from a ledge on the building opposite and flies in a circle looking for another place to roost before deciding ‘there’s no place like home’ and returning #FirstBirdOfMyDay
First bird of my day: a trio of Ducks flying overhead and Wren singing in the trees on a calm, sunny morning after the storm last night. #Firstbirdofmyday

#FirstBirdOfMyDay: White-throated sparrow in the much-needed rain.
After the next pidgeon-not-a-cuckoo flyby #firstbirdofmyday I saw herons mating #FirstTimeEver and a flock of goldfinches on my way to the bakery. Good day to you all!
First bird of my day: a lone Crow making its way along the valley on a calm morning before storm Dave arrives. #Firstbirdofmyday
Robins & blackbirds en masse (I hesitate to use the word cacophony, but...) were vying for the crown this morning, and deserve a dead heat for #firstbirdofmyday The tawny owl that was asking them, every minute or so, whether they really thought their time had arrived yet deserves honourable mention.
First birds of my day: a pair of Magpie busily attacking the twigs in the neighbour's Silver Birch tree, while a Jackdaw strolled along the top of the garden wall below them, and on a chimney opposite a pair of Carrion Crow bobbed and called.

Here's a photo of them from a few days ago.
#firstbirdofmyday…. Early morning swim at Scarborough. The kittiwakes are back! Shrieking and fighting and gliding and soaring.. sweet little faces that look like butter wouldn’t melt and that wonderful wild ear-splitting call.
