Blackbirds at least two singing at 5am, just one noisy crow at 6am giving long bursts of 5 or 6 craws. By morning quiet, although there were a few bursts of sparrow chatter in the privet mid morning but no sighting. #FirstBirdofMyDay

#firstbirdofmyday was a beautiful male blackbird on the hedge just before a charm of goldfinches arrived to explore.

First birds of my day: a trio of Magpie screechily investigating something on the road outside, while a Rook peered magesterially down at them from a TV aerial above their heads, and a Herring Gull yelled its way across the grey cloudy sky.

Blackbird woke me, but there on the bird feeder was a female great spotted woodpecker, her (would be?) mate drumming away close by. Heard my first curlew here yesterday!

Bumblebees are perusing the fading flowers of the plum tree. The woodruff on the balcony is waking up. The #FirstBirdOfMyDay, a magpie, was waking me up. It's chattering away in the backyard between pigeon coos. A crow chimes in.

#FirstBirdOfMyDay: American robin catching the early sun on the swaying mealworm feeder caught my eye, so I missed first seeing the white-throated sparrow on the ground below.

Out walking on the final day of my fundraising, without devices so late to post. Out along the Weavers Way beside the Bure hardly anything stirring until I disturbed a beautiful Kestrel. #firstbirdofmyday

I’ve actually forgotten what bird I saw first this morning but the bird that accompanied a glass of wine this evening as we watched the sun lowering in the sky was an eastern spinebill hovering around the salvias and flitting between the shrubs. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
