Ringstead tower is visible here, between 2 yew trees. The church is hidden behind the one to the left. In front of the tower is a porch with white gates in the entrance. The tower is square and has several stages, which taper slightly. There is then a robust broached spire with sets of louvres to allow the bell sound out. The sky is blue and the sun is behind the cloud to the left, we can see the light band of cloud around the edges.

We're looking at the church from the West end, with the tower facing us. It has 4 stages, with a door in the lower section and a window dissecting both stage 1 and 2. The third stage is small and contains the clock, while the 4th is the tallest, and has the louvres. The tower is topped by crenelations. The lower stages and the church are a mixed ironstone, while the upper stages of the tower are a paler, cleaner cut stone. There's a large evergreen tree to the right and the sky is mostly white clouds, with the blue peeping through in places.

Harrington tower is viewed through a number of tree trunks. There is a beaten earth path between us and the tower. The tower is relatively simple, with corner buttresses and a single arched louvre in the top before some small pinnacles disappear into the tree branches. It is winter, the trees are all bare, but there is a strong low sun from the right of the image and the sky is a clear blue.
Tower of the Day
Harrington has a ring of 6 bells. They were all cast in 1817, but had been unringable for over 60 years. Last year they were restored and are now rung from an upstairs room. The heaviest bell weighs 435 kg. Practice night is Thursday.

Whilton is a rather odd looking church! Working from the left there's the tower, the nave and the chancel. The chancel ridge line is higher and has a steeper roof line than the nave, the chancel is tiled, while the nave is a verdigris copper. The church is of an iron stone, while the tower is rougher and a paler stone. Looks like someones taken 3 entirely disparate parts and stuck them together! The churchyard is mown neatly and the sky has puffy clouds in front of a blue sky.

A modern church in light brown brick against a blue sky, just a few puffy white clouds. The church has a tower and about 2/3rds of the way up a set of lighter bands in brick, where the louvres are. To the left of the tower is the church entrance, with a high canopy over it. In front is a road and some cones and to the right what appears to be 2 people working, maybe dealing with the bushes that are between the church and the road, they have a green piece of machinery that I can't identify!

Rushden Spire stands out well against the sky in this photo. Taken from the East end of the church, there's a chancel and side chapels, although the end wall is somewhat hidden by bushes and a tree. We can see parts of the large windows in the end wall. The body is the church is not visible form here, we can see the side aisle sticking out to the left and the west end tower sticking up over the roof line. There are louvres visible, and pinnacles with arched supports to the tall tower. This has 3 sets of lights and carved balls (for want of a better description) running up the ridges. The sky is blue with white puffy clouds. The churchyard is green, and there are a lot of bushes and trees about, including some flowers, but the roses are not yet out.

Wicken church is viewed from the chancel end. A large East window faces us, with a cruciform church layout evident. The tower is at the West end, and emerges above the chancel roof. The whole is form a neatly cut beige stone. The tower has several stages that taper and a parapet. The church is viewed across a raised churchyard, the grass is almost at eyelevel nearest to the photographer. It is neatly trimmed and there are a number of columnar evergreens. Stanion church has a tall tower and even taller spire. The nave is quite low, enhancing the effect. Viewed from across the churchyard, the tower is to the left ,the chancel to the right. The chancel has a tiled roof, the nave has 3 windows above the side aisle and is taller and has a shallower pitch, such that the roof isn't visible. Then the tower which has 3 visible stages and is topped by a broached spire. The whole is constructed of a cream stone of slightly variegated colour. The sky is blue with about half coverage of puffy clouds, the grass is a lush green, but there are no shadows, there must be a cloud in front of the sun.

This is an unusual church. The tower is to the right, the body of the church is to the left and away from us. We can see 2 faces of the tower. In 3 stages, it dates from the 12thC. The tower has an unusual pitched roof and there are only a few small windows in tower's west face. In the lower stage of the North face of the tower we can see 3 blind arches of an arcade. Of the church we can see the North side aisle and porch above wich is a short clerestory of 3 bays. The church is of a brown/grey rubble stone. The church is set on top of a slope and we can see the fields of Northamptonshire spread out beyond the church. There are trees framing the church on either side of our view and the sky is an almost cloudless blue. The grass in front of us is closely mown and slightly parched. The image makes me think of a hot August.

Picture from Harlestone PCC Harlestone is a typical Northamptonshire ironstone church. We are viewing it from the entrance, with a path leading to the porch. Just beyond is the tower, with the church and chancel to the right from our view. The tower is square and fairly short, there is a stage with louvres above the nave roof. There's a clerestory pf 4 windows above a side aisle. The chancel is lower and has a steeper pitched, tiled roof. The church yard is neatly trimmed and there are shadows in front of us. The sky is blue with a few puffy clouds drifting along.

Photo from Church website: https://nenecrossings.org.uk/our-churches/ This is an odd looking church. You can't see it easily from here, but the tower is almost detached, with just a low passageway connecting the church and tower. It was originally home to a college of monks. The tower and church are of mixed stone construction, with ironstone giving the distinctive reddish colouring. The octagon is supposed to have been used as a navigational beacon for crossing the Nene. We see the tower poking above evergreens trees which mostly obscure the church from this vantage point. The tower had a set of louvres visible then the octagon and a short lead roofed turret topping the thing off. The sky of blue and the grass of the churchyard is neatly trimmed.

We're looking at the West end of Pattishall church. It is above us, in a raised churchyard, with a grassy churchyard on a rising slope. The West end comprises a tower and 2 side aisles visible. A sandstone construction with ironstone facings lit by a setting sun, it is golden. The tower consists of 3 stages, the lower having a door and dual lancet window. The mid section has the clock (~7:50 by the way). The upper section has an opening divided into 2 louvres. There's then a small space before the top of the tower.
