The High Seas Treaty has officially come into effect 🌊
High Seas sustain global-scale ecosystem functions and provide essential benefits.
As stated in the IPBES 🌍 #GlobalAssessment , improving shared governance is crucial to facing these challenges and protecting biodiversity. 🏡🧪

love magnets!
very very sad to hear that Tony Cox passed away. He was my postdoc boss for the four years I was at the Cambridge Centre for Atmospheric Science and was great to work with. Such a lovely and interesting person, and a giant of UK atmospheric chemistry history.

Screenshot from BBC news summarising a section of the latest UK Covid Inquiry report, detailing how initial assumptions that Covid spread by droplets were wrong and that by understanding it is airborne we could better ventilate schools and upgrade PPE for healthcare professionals
Shameful that a stubborn refusal to admit errors and update guidance led to so many unnecessary deaths. Utterly deplorable that this continues to be the case. Ventilation and air filtration in schools and healthcare settings should be mandatory, not just guidance.
warfare makes pollution :(
The daytime darkness and overhead smoke reminds me of the so called "high fog" (in fact pollution) that hung over UK cities through the late 19th and early 20th century. Indicative of really severe air pollution.
for various reasons I am not exercising at pool and sports centres at the moment. Restarted my seated workout routine which I did when I was waiting for my ankle replacement. V pleased Paul Eugene's seated workouts are still going as they are great!! #activelife

Black-and-white historical photograph of renowned Chinese-American physicist Dr. Chien-Shiung Wu. She stands confidently in a white lab coat, facing the camera with a calm, poised expression and direct gaze. Her dark hair is elegantly styled. Behind her is a large, complex rack of mid-20th-century electronic equipment, including tangled cables, multiple control panels, dials, switches, and connectors. Prominently visible is a device labeled "CU1721" (a linear amplifier), with additional markings such as "GUIDANCE CONTROL," "FOR AC ANALYSIS," "TIME CONTROL," input/output ports, and other technical labels typical of nuclear physics instrumentation from that era. The setting captures the intensity and precision of experimental nuclear research in the post-WWII period.
Physicist Chien-Shiung Wu died #OTD in 1997.
She conducted the Wu experiment (proving parity isn't conserved) for which her male colleagues won the 1957 Nobel Prize in Physics. Her role wasn't publicly honored until she was awarded the inaugural Wolf Prize in 1978. #WomenInSTEM #MatildaEffect
