Another w'end away from home, so slim pickings from the banks of the very lovely, breezy river Severn at Shrewsbury today:
Purple & white dead-nettle,
& cuckoo flower (Lady's smock)
I'm away in the Canaries at the moment, so cheating a little bit for #wildflowerhour
I'm surrounded by such beautiful vibrant colurs where I'm staying, it would be a pity not to share some of them!
Narcissi, symbols of Spring, joy & hope, & the vain youth, Narcissus who fell in love with his own reflection! They represent new beginnings.
Dog's mercury (poisonous & historically used to make blue dye), & Alexander flowers, Roman 'pot herb' to warm a cold stomach! #Wildflowerhour
#StoryPlants
The woods were steep & slippery in places, but I clung on, determined to capture some evidence of the numerous sweet white violets-viola odorata-along with a purple & possibly early dog violet(?) for this week's #wildflowerhour #WhiteFlowers challenge!
Phew-thanks Moira-I confess it was touch-and-go right up to the wire!! ๐คฉ
I've wavered between marsh marigold & lesser celandine-and have settled for celandine! Whatever, I think they're a definite #signofspring for #wildflowerhour
#thewinter10 for #wildflowerhour hebe, white narcissus, daffodil, herb robert, blackthorn, alexanders, lesser celandine, red campion, periwinkle & gorse-on the Anglesey coastal path this week
Carpets of beautiful spring flowers in the cemetary where my parents are buried, on what would have been my father's 99th Birthday today-St David's Day! ๐ต #wildflowerhour
Crocus, lesser celandine, daffodils & a solitary (late or early?!) birdsfoot trefoil, in bloom despite the saturated ground, for this week's #wildflowerhour
Venturing out yesterday after so much rain was such a tonic-and the masses of snowdrops were a delight to behold!
#wildflowerhour
Thank you!! โฃ๏ธ
Thank you! But I do know what they are-sorry, I was just being lazy. Will add the list to the post-if I can!
My #thewinter10 for this week's #wildflowerhour which luckily I snapped before it snowed today!
A friend assures me that the plant on the left is a cowslip but isn't it too early!? I'm fairly confident the second pic is of pretty primula vulgaris-common primrose
#wildflowerhour
Thank you also-I still have a long way to go!! ๐ชท x

The first #TheWinter10 for me. It was great to see such diverse blooms on one short walk along the Anglesey coastal path yesterday! And the first winter heliotrope in flower-always late on the island
Cotoneaster & Bergenia 'Elephants ears, both seen on the coastal path across the Great Orme in Llandudno this week
for #wildflowerhour
To make up for Sunday's lack of wildflowers on my part, here's some beautiful #winter #trees taken in a local #woodland today on my annual hunt for a few sprigs of holly-it was so relaxing away from all the frenetic pre-Christmas activity-but there were fewer berries than last year
Some unassuming little flowers still blooming for this week's #wildflowerhour
Yarrow, gorse & red campion
Winter heliotrope in flower this week in East Sussex #wildflowerhour
Christmas has come early to my local hedgerow!
#wildflowerhour
Thank you Moira! It had even spread over the sea-wall into a boggy field next door!
I wandered down to the shore for this week's #wildflowerhour and found an abundance of mayweed-or is it chamomile? It brightened my afternoon anyway!
Just some well-known, common wildflowers for this week's #wildflowerhour #thewinterten
as there aren't many more to be found at the moment!
Teasels among the gravestones on an off-shore island off the Isle of Anglesey yesterday for #wildflowerhour
Yes it's absolutely everywhere in my area too! ๐
