The DC EDIC was established in October 2025 by the European Commission as an initiative of five founding Member States: France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and Luxembourg. It has since grown to twelve participants and remains open to all EU Member States.

Audre Lorde's "master's tools" speech was not about tech platforms. So why does tech discourse keep citing it as if it were? I write about that here: tarakiyee.com/on-the-enshi... #enshittification #AudreLorde #techpolicy

Building on the success of Sovereign Tech Resilience since 2023, we're expanding the program to focus on areas where we see the greatest need and the clearest opportunity for impact.

Happy Autonomy Tuesday! Today in the Autonomous Stack series: I had an inventory and a dependency graph. Now I needed to figure out where things actually run. tarakiyee.com/three-server...

I've been using Linux on my personal machines since I was a teenager. Twenty-five years of desktops, from GNOME 2 to Sway. I felt the need to write about it.

Today on the Autonomous Stack series: Frustrated with the slop, I finally mapped every service, every account, to try and map a way out. What I found changed the scope of the whole project.

This week on the Autonomous Stack series: why I'm doing this whole thing. I strive for digital autonomy but somehow I ended up with all these dependencies I don't control. I want to document how I'm changing that.

Overlaid text in a light box reads: “The call for tenders is open until March 25, 2026, 10:00 a.m. CET. Questions can be asked via the electronic procurement platform DTVP and will be answered no later than March 17, 2026” A small yellow information icon appears above the text box.
In our latest blog post, we provide some background on the Sovereign Tech Resilience Program and its results thus far, outline its core objectives, and explain the reasoning behind the most recent call for tenders.
ℹ️ Please note that the submission deadline for the current tender has been extended!
reads: This idea, that large-language models merely produce statistically plausible word sequences based on training data, without having any idea about what the words refer to, has become the baseline across much of the left-intellectual landscape. Thanks to it, fundamental questions about AI’s capabilities, now and in the future, are considered settled.

I'm also announcing a new series, the Autonomous Stack. It's a weekly Tuesday series documenting my migration to self-hosted infrastructure. Not a tutorial. An honest account of what happens when you try to practice sovereignitymaxxing.

I'm renaming my blog: Do Flamingos Know They're Pink. 🦩
Flamingos aren't born pink, they become pink because of their diet. We're all being shaped by the technologies we consume: the question is whether we notice.

What can Open Source do for Europe?
Open source is the basis for Europe’s critical digital infrastructure, from public services to cybersecurity. To keep it reliable and secure, we need sustainable support and long-term investments.
Last autumn in Berlin, we celebrated the launch of our research report, Bug Bounties and FOSS, under the Sovereign Tech Resilience program. Now, we’re excited to share the keynote and panel videos, the German report, and a new job opening for the program!
Do you love FOSS and want to work to support public digital infrastructure? Come work with us! We're looking to strengthen the team through a couple of really interesting positions! Check them out below, and share this with your networks. #FOSSJobs #Hiring
Reminder 🔔 We’re hosting a devroom at @FOSDEM 2025! The "Funding the FOSS Ecosystem" devroom is for developers to gain insights into funding strategies, encourages funders to better understand and support developer needs in FOSS projects.

Today, the Sovereign Tech Fund turns two years old. Since our first anniversary, so much has happened: new programs, more investments, and even more ways to strengthen the digital infrastructure and software that we all rely on.

How effective are bug bounties in making open source critical infrastructure safer? Join us on the evening of 30 Sep 2024 in Berlin for the presentation of Dr. Ryan Ellis’ research, a keynote by Sabine Grützmacher (MdB), and an expert panel, exploring FOSS, security, and the public interest. 1/3
With five new software projects on the YesWeHack platform, for a total of seven, there’s a lot of code to look at. Find and report potential vulnerabilities responsibly, in exchange for a bug bounty. 2/2
We’re calling on security researchers to help enhance the resilience of open digital infrastructure. Participate in the bug & fix bounties of seven critical software projects. 1/2 www.sovereigntechfund.de/news/calling...
