I heard Zohran Mamdani is replacing the pledge of allegiance in New York schools with the shahada

Crazy that the British came here and decided we weren’t using our land so stole it to make cricket fields
Begging someone to make a beat out of Stephen Franks’ waffle in the treaty submissions this morning
Reading Facebook comments about some of the school lunch stuff. Wild how many people are unable to want better than their experience for the next generation
If I was in a govt seeing record emigration I simply would not pick “everyone must go” as a slogan
Feels like a bit of a missed opportunity for TPM not to be using Not Like Us to jab at ACT somehow
Justin Tipa doesn't mince words - full speech at this link.
"Our major parties are struggling to articulate a political vision... so instead we get an ACT party neoliberal thought experiment posing as a faux source of moral principle and national unity"

it’s very fun to watch rightwingers make up insane bullshit and laugh at them for “believing” it but it’s a very intentional strategy to flood the online ecosystem with their narratives. they don’t believe all the shit they say but it serves their ends if everyone is talking about them all the time
Justin Tipa’s speech far out did the one Luxon gave. Hopefully some of it makes the rounds
Can we please have a conversation about segregation and state housing.
The more government pushes poor, mostly migrants, BIPOC, Māori and Pacifica people out of wealthy neighbourhoods the more segregated our cities become.
This is 💯 a racist policy!!!

Wow! As Seymour was speaking, many on the mana whenua side turned their backs on him and a line of wahine stood between him & mana whenua. I have never seen this before. #waitangi #nzpol
People deserve homes. People who are unemployed, who have been to prison , who commit crimes, who use drugs, who sell drugs, who are experiencing IPV, who can be violent. people who do not fit your idea of “deserving”’or “grateful” or “wanting to get better” still deserve homes. #nzpol
Crazy how people can write in support of this bill without even hand waving how on its face inappropriate it is to change an agreement between two parties without consulting one of those parties
There's teething problems in the new school lunches system and then there's a primary school head on RNZ confirming halal meals had ham in them. And that he has had to warn parents he isn't confident the meat in the other halal meals is actually halal.
No one should be even remotely surprised that it is Teen Vogue nailing it:

"I want you to be defiant. If there was ever a time to disobey, this is it. "
this horse 🐎 LOVES 💖 bad news 👎
Mairingi James, I bow to your kōrero ātaahua.
An amazing submission on the TPB.

Sandra Goudie’s oral submission on the treaty bill this morning is the most racist one I’ve seen. Arguing that Māori have special access to challenge the govt is absurd! The Waitangi Tribunal exists because the standard institutions ignored us! We couldn’t even vote in general electorates until 1967
There is no reason to change the name of a long established part of the map because the president says so. But then again the CEO of Google was on stage with front row inauguration seats.
What you missed from day one of the Treaty principles bill select committee hearings

Ganesh Nana’s words sum up the Treaty Principles Bill perfectly:
“I am waiting for the adults in the room to stand up and take responsibility. Sadly, I find myself asking if there are actually any adults in the room or in the House.”

Massive mihi to all the anti-bill speakers today - hearing from some of our most knowledgeable powerhouse rāngatira both Māori & tāngata tiriti has been such a gift, despite the circumstances #nzpol
I love how Ganesh Nana highlighted the pain & racism against Māori that has occurred due to the bill. Calling the bill repulsive was bang on too. #NZpol
If Elizabeth Rata has no haters then I have died
“Parliament can legislate that the Earth is flat. That doesn’t make it flat.” Chris Finlayson
Finlayson on behalf of the NZ Bar Association:
"these principles might go into a written constitution although they're not particularly well written but they don't reflect the relationship between the Crown and Tangata Whenua."

Begging people to realise our judge appointment system is vastly different to the US one and more resistant to political appointees
Watching submissions on the Treaty Bill cause I felt like my blood pressure was too low today
Always was always will be 🖤💛❤️✊🏾
