Just a reminder: if you're pursuing STEM to stay in academia, the 3 most important skills are: resilience, critical thinking, and effective communication (both written and oral). If you're not ready for that, academic STEM might not be for you.

I've been playing this gsme after work all week, and it's honestly really relaxing ❤️
Polvorones la Estepeña. Traditional Spanish christmas cookies.
I found this in Lidl… there were only two boxes left, so I took both. You guys can't imagine how much I missed this! I know it's August (and these are Christmas cookies), but I’ll probably finish both boxes before Monday
The summer has been busy! Along with the move and a PhD defense, we have updated two preprints:

In the second, we discovered that cisplatin drives ovarian cancer metastasis through a metabolic cross-talk between senescent cancer cells with non-senescent cancer cells. We identified fructose as the upstream driver of this phenotype. First author Dr. Cole just defended!
In the first, @raquelbuj.bsky.social discovered that tumors can respond to anti-PD1 without T cells! Mechanistically, this is through a zinc-dependent increase in macrophage phagocytosis, and this is driven through cancer cell CDKN2A-mediated zinc compartmentalization.
We asked metal band frontman Klaus about Tiny Bookshop’s release tomorrow: "Yo, I’m so excited for their big break! Can’t believe there’s only 1 day left… Oh, I’m starting to feel a little stage fright, now that I think about it...”
Meet Klaus at your Tiny Bookshop TOMORROW, 7 pm CEST, on Steam!!!

This book is a plagiarism of a Spanish TV series that premiered in 2015 on Spain's public television network, with the exact same name. The author claims she was inspired by the series, but if you watch the show and read the book, it's a very exact kind of inspiration.

Extremely honored to receive this prize from @socdevbio.bsky.social, which recognizes not only my love for developmental biology, but the extremely online I am 🧪 (protect science, protect people, viva la dev bio!)
Enhorabuena!!!! Te mereces este y otros 50 más!
Our new paper is out! Trying to understand the molecular function of the PARP7, a PARP family enzyme with links to innate immunity and environmental toxins response. Congrats to Andrii and the rest of the team and collaborators.

Carlos Alcaraz had beautiful words for Jannik Sinner after beating him in the longest Roland Garros final in history
“I’m just really happy to be able to make history with you in this tournament, in other tournaments. You’re a huge inspiration for young kids and for everyone. And for myself.” 🥹
