I've got a little hobby project I made a first prototype for in late 2023, picked it back up last year, and put it back down again for a bit. I guess that counts as ~3 years for a silly little mobile/arcadey thing?

The phrase "the furthest any human has ever been from their dog" struck me to my core in a way I was not expecting from a WeRateDogs post.
Hmm. My instinct is to say that for a demo, you want to hook people real early, but I also don't know anything about trying to market a game.
How intuitive are the core mechanics? If it's easy to pick up and fun from the jump, then diving right in might get people invested right away.
Absolutely - and curiosity, learning as play, the joy of experimentation and discovery. I think that's where you find out what future you want to build with discipline and a growth mindset. Thank you for the kind words!
Inspired by Artemis II, I decided to build and fly a model rocket with my 6 y/o - and the project really took off! Suddenly, it's not just one kit, it's Kerbal Space Program, IRL edition.

Look, we're all grumpy at Nvidia over DLSS5. But most of the conversation is the same "games as art" or GenAI conversations we've been having for years now. That's fine, but I want you to be mad for bigger reasons, too.

Oh, right. Bluesky exists.
What's good on here these days?

GREETINGS, PROGRAMS! Live now to keep working on the tiny child's #TRON costume. We'll start with some VERY analogue creativity, then talk rapid prototyping, and then dive into lighting the identity disc. #TRONtober continues!

I watched one #Writing YouTube drama video and suddenly my algorithm is full of the WORST takes. Folks, writers, craft-focused friends: please be a million percent less smug about "writerly" content creators. It doesn't help, and it is just going to hurt new writers. lovemakeshare.ca/2025/07/24/s...
I. love. designing. game logos. Capturing the soul of a thing, and keeping it captive within a small picture with some type. I just love the problem solving and the beauty of it.
TL;DR I'm tired of survivors being found to be "not credible" and I think prosecution in these cases need to do a better job of supporting and preparing their clients.
And if I'm noticing this, while not paying close attention, then I wonder how deep it goes. Are we simply not preparing women appropriately to participate in these cases? It undermines the whole project when survivors aren't supported properly, to say nothing of the damage to them personally.
I'll take you at your word on that! I don't know enough about legal precedent to speak to it. I can however think of three high-profile cases about abuse & harassment now where it seems like lawyers from the Crown let their clients take the stand totally unprepared, and it damaged their credibility.
The Hockey Canada sexual assault verdict today is raising a concern about systemic failures, but not the ones I think you might be thinking about.
Does Canada have a serious problem with how Crown prosecutors prepare key witnesses in abuse & harassment cases? Is this an emerging pattern?
Really quite happy with the visual improvements that the latest few patches have brought to #bulwark.
Very nice effect!
What do you mean, sell *products* to *users?* I thought users are what we're selling?

Enshittification is wild.
The Internet - and my whole digital existence - have felt increasingly hostile lately. #OpenSource has been an antidote to that. So here are some reflections of a #FOSS neophyte, appropriately written on a Microsoft product running #Ubuntu. lovemakeshare.ca/2025/06/16/o...

Me when people suggest I use AI to make writing go faster. No, I promise you it won't. It'll just make me angrier.
Work on my game tonight has been brought to a screeching halt by a fresh new mysterious failure of my #FrameworkLaptop, which I clearly jinxed, because I was just thinking about how nice it is to use and how great it's been working since the new main board installation from the last set of issues.
Adding some 3D models and swapping between 2D and 3D physics taught me how to activate/deactivate behaviours on the fly, so I can now switch from pathfinding to physics-based movement once the Hunter is near the player.

Thus far, the pathfinding behaviour has been a real barrier to making more quick, responsive, and dynamic movements for the Hunter. In #GDevelop, if an object has both Pathfinding and Physics 2D behaviours, it will simply stop pathfinding.

It legitimately jump-scared me last night while testing - appeared from the side like the raptors in Jurassic Park and annihilated me mid-delivery - but it often gets a stuck trying to pathfind and isn't as aggressive as it could be.
