An aerial news broadcast shot from Sky News showing a large crowd of protesters gathered in a public square in Central London. The crowd is densely packed between high-rise city buildings and a green park area. A red and white news banner at the bottom reads, "LONDON MARCH: Protesters set to march against the far right." Small colorful tents and banners are visible within the crowd.
Biggest march against the far-right in British history.

This was the Starling murmuration, on Sinker's Fields, at Whixall yesterday. It was one of the most spectacular natural spectacles I have ever seen and is a must watch.

Your work is gorgeous! 😍 I'm happy that I discovered you here.
Paper Morning Glories
Thanks for following along in 2025!
Lichen on twigs of a bush, covered in a thick layer of ice.
This year, winter on Usedom is so unusual and amazing that I feel reluctant to see it go.
And yet, come spring with its potent air, fresh colours and new beginnings, I’ll happily be drinking it all in.
Near Mombasa, women in Jomvu Creek are transforming livelihoods through mud crab farming.
A blue economy grant supports crab fattening, ecotourism and mangrove restoration — with nearly 1 million seedlings planted to protect the shoreline and sustain fish nurseries.
A red dragonfly is always a glorious sight! This one is an Autumn Meadowhawk. Happy Bugentine’s Day

New work- aquatic plants- mostly invasive. These are paper sculptures.

Did you compare also with #Mastodon or is it a Bluesky-only promotion? 😉 Do you have any figures about Mastodon?
Decentralized is the way to go. Mastodon has some great instances, and while not perfect feels much less toxic than any corporate owned platforms.
#LeaveX, join #Mastodon and the #Fediverse.
#Journalism
We do have social media *without* algorithms but media rarely write about them. Often because they only watch quantity over quality, click-rates over communication. #Mastodon #Fediverse We have alternatives to Substack like #Ghost or #Steady.
It's a pity that you don't mention the most democratic and real decentralised meeting point, without algorithms and with human moderators: the #Fediverse, and #Mastodon! Here you can communicate and build communities. It's not perfect yet but they work hard without billionaires! joinmastodon.org
thanks for the info! 👍
Met Museum photo of an ancient Egyptian board game carved from cream-coloured ivory displayed against a dark background. The original name of the game is unknown. It is now known as ‘Hounds and Jackals’ or the ‘Game of 58 holes’. The game board rests on four bulls' legs. One of the legs, seen at back of the board on the right of photo, is completely restored. Another has a restored hoof (seen at front of the board on left). The board is shaped like an axe head. In the centre of the upper surface is an incised palm tree topped by a ‘Shen’ symbol (a circle atop a a horizontal line to which it is tied). The palm’s trunk runs down the length of the board. There are 58 holes in the upper surface; 29 arranged evenly on either side of the palm tree. At the lower side of the game board there is a drawer with a bolt to store the playing pieces. The playing pieces are made up of ten long pins (sticks) with carved animal heads. Five are hounds and five are jackals. In the photo, the ten pins are arranged randomly in holes on the game board. The board is carved from ivory with ebony detailing around the 58 holes. The pins are ivory. Measurements: Game board: H 6.8cm W 10.1 cm, D 15.6 cm. Hound pins: H 6 cm to 6.8 cm Jackal pins: H 7 cm to 8.5 cm The game was excavated in 1910 by Howard Carter from the tomb of an official named Reniseneb at Thebes. The tomb is dated to Dynasty 12, Reign of Amenemhat IV, circa 1814–1805 BC. “Ancient Egyptians likened the intricate voyage through the underworld to a game. This made gaming boards and gaming pieces appropriate objects to deposit in tombs” (The Met).
This Ancient Egyptian board game is almost 4,000 years old!
Known as ‘Hounds and Jackals’ or ‘Game of 58 holes’, its original name is unknown. It’s suggested it was played in a similar way to ‘Snakes and Ladders’.

I suppose I also take this personally bc attacks on craftivism land poorly with me as a Native person. Beading together, making regalia, sewing in groups — this is at the heart of how the women on my reservation gather to do healing work, political ed, and mutual aid. This has long been true.
Is craftivism performative? Yes. That's the point. Resistance includes a public demonstration of opposition at accessible events with a low barrier to entry.
The red resistance hat pattern has raised $300k for the people of Minnesota. That's not effective?
