The 17 New Horror Books Terrifying Us in 2026 (And 13 More We Can’t Wait For) Get your reading list ready—if you’re brave enough.

There is something deliciously appropriate about Men's Health naming DEAD WEIGHT as one of the new horror books that terrifies them.

images of the covers of the following movies: The Devil's Advocate (a younger dark-haired main in a suit, seated, with an older dark-haried man in a suit behind him), Michael Clayton (Face of a middle-aged man, greying hair, head tilted down and looking to his left, George Clooney), Certified Copy (two versions of the same middle-aged couple, a dark-haired woman & grey-haired man), and The Deep Blue Sea (dark-haired woman and Dark haired man, 30s, in profile, both with eyes closed).

Genuinely hate it whenever a bartender has a "thing." Your thing should be getting me a drink, that's the extent of it.

Also shots when they mention Fort Ticonderoga bc while it's not Vermont, it's a common Vermont school trip, so it counts!

Taking a shot every time they mention Ethan Allen in the Ken Burns Revolutionary War series bc I'm a Vermonter in my bones & heart & I have to honor our hard drinking Revolutionary War hero/furniture store namesake appropriately.

The fact that Mamdani just seems like a cheerful normal guy who's policies are things like "we're going to tax second homes to fund pothole repairs" or whatever and yet this generates panicked responses like "This is basically Stalin's great purge turned up to eleven" is... telling.
