I stitched to this method 3 years ago, after 30 years. Learnt it from my daughter when she was revising for her GCSEs!

I’m on the hunt for a designer of magazines, books, etc, for some upcoming Teacher Writers projects.

Thanks-- will take you up on this, once the exhaustion of this term has abated.
This is extremely interesting-- I am about to do a huge review of our A level SoW, as likewise we are an independent school with shorter terms and lots of overseas students. At the moment it is a real push to complete by Easter in Y13. I share you views on those early Y1 chapters being a dull start.
We aren't exactly in this position, but have several who a few grades off their UCAS predictions. I am running a 15 min Daily Skills Check, using the amazing @MathsBox resources. Will report back how it went.
Couldn't agree more!
Yep, I'm with you.
One current and one former pupil in that line-up. Very proud!
#MathsToday
I have one there too-- a Y11!
Can give to my Y12 son, if you want a student's perspective-- equally happy to do myself!
Does this mean they have someone to take it on, or they've given up trying?
This is SO useful-- thanks 😊
I have a team of Maths Ambassadors, their role is to promote the subject throughout the school. To launch Maths Week they ran an amazing assembly to our junior school on Fibonnaci. It started with dressing up a volunteer as Fibonacci and ended with a challenge of finding the golden spiral in nature.
If anyone was thinking of getting a SIGNED copy of The Mathematicians' Library for someone for Christmas, I have 42 copies ready and raring to go: £25 (+ £5 delivery in the UK unless you can pick it up from Milton Keynes).
As always, a boost of this post would be much appreciated 😁
Do check out the Maths in Action website-- we go to their Warwick day. It's excellent!
Huge thanks to @mathforge.org for organising the inaugural Oxfordshire Youth Maths Conference this week. Our 6 students who participated loved it and my colleague who took them said it was just right-- superb presentations by the students, not too long and the right number of breaks. Congrats!
Hi maths teachers. I don't suppose anybody would ever willing to share a lesson on telling the time on an analogue clock for year 7 (set 9 of 9), please. My laptop has broken, yesterday of all days, so I am in a bit of a pickle this week. Thank you in advance
I'd recommend Amanda Austin, @draustinmaths.com . She creates tons of amazing resources and posts on here when there's anything new. Look at her website too. Good luck with your move to secondary 👍
We're a Google school so can't use OneNote. Used to use Google's Jamboard (which wasn't perfect) but they discontinued it. Most of us now use Lucid Spark or Canva, with a few using GoodNotes (but need an iPad, which we are all given)
Try it! Introduce it in the right way, and you won't be disappointed. One particular entry inspired me to come up with next year's competition: Maths Movies-- a 3 minute film about any maths related theme. Can't wait!
I recently ran a Maths Song Competition across both our senior and junior school. Although I had fewer entries than some of my previous competitions, the winning entries really blew me away with their creativity, collaboration, and cross curricular skills.
Done!
#ALevelMaths teachers! The free Oxford livestreams for the MAT and PAT start this week (PAT on Wednesday, MAT on Thursday) - if you have any students applying to Oxford for Maths, or Physics/Engineering, I would encourage them to join. I've had students in the past who have found these useful 😊
If you have 5 mins and can help me with this YouTube nonsense instructions at the end of this video. It won't take long but will flag the videos to them. Appreciate retweets. If this gets resolved I can get back to making papers!

In #mathstoday we were let down by a company for our curriculum enhancement week in 2 weeks time. Does anyone have any suggestions of people /companies we could try (I know it's short notice) ideally based near Norfolk who could come to us. We have 100 students to keep amused on Fri 20th June 🙏
I'll ask tomorrow!
We use digital resources but have hard copies of the books for each option, which they can look through. I personally use Integral as a teaching resource, but others in my department have their own favourites.
We get them to chose in May/June of L6 (having taught the full A level course prior to then). We spend 10-15 min briefly talking through what each option contains and then they complete a Google form, rank ordering each option. The most popular combination wins!
