Written 20 years ago, by Philip Pullman, if you're an ardent book person you probably read it at the time, and if not, worth reading now: BOOKS ARE NOT EGGS aka 'literary units'

The Scotsman's fantastic review of Blood Sacrifice.
'A novel of rare intelligence and ambition'.
Who knew my books would become a prime investment opportunity? If anyone's prepared to pay this much for a paperback, I have a box of them in the garage. I'll even sign them and call the £11.70 the delivery charge. 🤣 💰💰💰
Always special to come home to Goldsboro Books post, today it’s Douglas Jackson and Blood Sacrifice, looking forward to reading. One of today’s finest writers of historical fiction @goldsborobooks.bsky.social @dougwriter.bsky.social
Published tomorrow in the USA! 'Battle Song' in paperback. This is the first book in my Medieval England trilogy, set amid the turmoil of the Second Barons' War. The subsequent two books should get a US paperback release over the coming year!

I'm quite humbled by this fantastic review of Blood Sacrifice by Allan Massie in TheScotsman newspaper.
'One can confidently say that these first two novels [of the Warsaw Quartet] display an intelligence and ambition rare in Scottish fiction today.'

Happy publication day to me. I'll add the traditional embellishment to the trophy cabinet a bit later. Blood Roses is Book 2 of The Warsaw Quartet. Be fascinated to discover what everyone thinks of it.
This is such sad news. He was instrumental in kicking off my writing career when he intoned ‘And the Emperor Claudius rode in triumph on his elephant at Colchester’ on Simon Schama’s History of Britain. Such a lovely man. RIP, sir.
Anyone got a favourite book blogger / book reviewer who's active on Bluesky?
Give them a shout out and we can get a Starter Pack going for this as well

Hi, I'm an author of historical novels, crime fiction and mystery thrillers. I've just moved here to shamelessly plug my books, be awed by nature and disappointed at politicians. If you use 'woke' as an insult don't bother following me. Otherwise, all welcome.
