Philip Pullman: Our literary life is under threat Philip Pullman: Our rich and varied literary life is under threat from proposals for a new pricing structure on what we read.

Who knew my books would become a prime investment opportunity? If anyone's prepared to pay this much for a paperback, I have a box of them in the garage. I'll even sign them and call the £11.70 the delivery charge. 🤣 💰💰💰

Published tomorrow in the USA! 'Battle Song' in paperback. This is the first book in my Medieval England trilogy, set amid the turmoil of the Second Barons' War. The subsequent two books should get a US paperback release over the coming year!

Blood Sacrifice by Douglas Jackson review: 'a novel of rare intelligence and ambition' Set in Warsaw during the Second World War, Douglas Jackson’s new novel finds his resistance fighter Jan Kalisz attempting to smuggle weapons into the ghetto. Review by Allan Massie

I'm quite humbled by this fantastic review of Blood Sacrifice by Allan Massie in TheScotsman newspaper.

'One can confidently say that these first two novels [of the Warsaw Quartet] display an intelligence and ambition rare in Scottish fiction today.'

I’ll reveal the date at ELBAC tomorrow, talks to be recorded. Can’t wait that long? See link in thread below

a close up of a person 's face with makeup and pearls Alt: Amid flashing lights Dr Frank N Furter looks up in triumph and shouts Oh, Rocky! It's a scene from The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring the delectable Tim Curry. Love that the auto-suggested caption is "a close up of a person 's face with makeup and pearls". I used to go see TRHPS at least once a month at the Hollywood Cinema in Avondale. Dressed up, throw rice, the works. I can still shout most of the audience participation lines unprompted.

Welcome to the lifeboat party! I'm D. V. Bishop, author of the Cesare Aldo historical thrillers set in Renaissance Italy. Love books, reading, and helping other writers.

In my Copious Spare Time™ I write comics, lead three creative writing programmes, and am trying to finish a PhD.

Happy publication day to me. I'll add the traditional embellishment to the trophy cabinet a bit later. Blood Roses is Book 2 of The Warsaw Quartet. Be fascinated to discover what everyone thinks of it.

This is such sad news. He was instrumental in kicking off my writing career when he intoned ‘And the Emperor Claudius rode in triumph on his elephant at Colchester’ on Simon Schama’s History of Britain. Such a lovely man. RIP, sir.

Hi, I'm an author of historical novels, crime fiction and mystery thrillers. I've just moved here to shamelessly plug my books, be awed by nature and disappointed at politicians. If you use 'woke' as an insult don't bother following me. Otherwise, all welcome.
