The Toffees could have been dead and buried after the fit-again Vitalii Mykolenko managed to beat his own goalkeeper after Jordan Pickford had kept out a shot from Raul Jimenez, but Marco Silva’s side failed to take a succession of chances. Moyes made several tactical tweaks and Everton dominated after the interval, eventually equalising through Kieran Dewsbury-Hall before Bernd Leno punched the ex-Chelsea midfielder’s corner into his own net under pressure from Jake O’Brien.
