Although the sun on that world was dim, its light was enough to heat the entire dunes. The Dreamer would have a hard time exploring this region without adequate protection gears, as well as water bottles.

This past weekend was Dinofest 2025 (Underwater Worlds) at the Natural History Museum of Utah and I hear it was a total success! I had the pleasure to be commissioned to do the banner art, which depicts the pliosaur Brachauchenius about to catch a hypothetical baby Nothronychus

After the light faded, the stem-octopod, โ Enchoteuthis melanae, slid through the shadow of Western Interior Seaway.
A small bipedal dinosaur hunches over a dead branch against an arid, parched landscape. The dinosaur has yellow-orange quills over its back, face and tail, with paler legs and facial ruff. The snout is blue and the interior of the mouth yellow. Stiffened quills project upward from the shoulders. A collection of twigs and pinecones at the base of the image represents a bowerbird-like display structure.
New to the internet #paleoart: "Ubirajara jubatus", the strangely filamented Brazilian compsognathid famous for its history as an illegally exported fossil. Here, it's signalling to us with colourful mouthparts and a fetching bower of twigs and pinecones. Drawn for @palaeogames.bsky.social.
crab illustration seen from above. at first glance it's a bit like today's swimming crabs - wide carapace, normal proportions, but its slender claws are heavily serrated, some of the spikes are longer than the claw's thickness.

Small round ground dwelling fowl are nesting in the large bleached skull of a T. rex. There are palm trees in the background with a yellow sky.
Pelagornis is a large sea bird from the Oligocene with a 20 foot wingspan. This one has a dark back and wings and a white belly. It is flying over a gray ocean with two water spout tornadoes in the background.
Dromornis was an enormous prehistoric bird native to Australia. This one has a large pink head and dark brown body. It is standing next to a grass tree with a large white flower spike that is covered in yellow butterflies.
