I had the pleasure of speaking with the Doctor's Kitchen (not on BlueSky) about mould. Was a great conversation and as always the simple questions are the hardiest to answer. You can watch it on YouTube if you're interested:

Its been a fantastic study to be part of, appreciate the vital input from all of the authors that includes @profandrewmac.bsky.social (think others are not on here?). Congratulations to @emilyplumpton.bsky.social for what I'm sure is the first of many publications!
Its my great pleasure to say the latest paper from our group is now out: www.mucosalimmunology.org/article/S193...
Check it out! We found that immune cell activation in the sputum identifies severe asthma patients. Massive thanks to the patients for agreeing to give sputum and blood samples.
Check out our latest preprint, tracking fungal spores we were able to make some fascinating insights on how dendritic cells cause #fungal allergy. #immunosky.
Huge thanks to our awesome collaborators who helped with this study!

Thanks to new funding from @wellcometrust.bsky.social we will soon be advertising two postdoc positions! Interested? Please get in touch in the first instance and I'll provide more info on the projects. You can also learn more on our lab website www.theradlab.co.uk

Co authors that I’m aware are on here include; @emilyplumpton.bsky.social @billhorsnell.bsky.social @profandrewmac.bsky.social,
After a period of silence, delighted to share our latest work has come out as a pre print. Check it out. Huge thanks to the amazing efforts of co-authors and most importantly the generosity of the patients in providing samples. www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...
The past several weeks have taken a toll on all of us. We wrote this before the thick fog fell over science, out now, highlighting the exciting collective progress in the area of #microbiota and #IBD. Hoping reason prevails—for the sake of all and the collective progress of #science
Excited to see this finally out!! We found IL-2 made by CD301b+ DCs critical for the Th2 fate decision of CD4T cells and skewing them away from the Tfh fate. They also seem to use their own CD25 to direct IL-2 to the cognate clone.

Congratulations, beautiful work!
Out today - a new role for MAIT cells. We've shown MAIT cells are antibacterial; antiviral; and promote tissue repair. In this paper from our group we show MAIT cells are recruited and activated to protect tissues in sterile lung injury, and potentially in IPF - enjoy!

*PhD project available funded by BBSRC WoH DLP,*. Are you interested in viral and fungal immunity? Keen to use learn the latest cutting edge technologies to address this working with partners at UKHSA? If yes then please reach out. Further details at: www.surrey.ac.uk/bbsrc-wessex...
Please check it out if you're interested in #allergy, #asthma, #fungi, #lung, #dendriticcells especially in causing type 2 vs type 17 inflammation.
To tackle this, we found fungal spores lead to both type 2 / type 17 allergic responses and that DCs & CD4+ T cells were crucial. Several single cell technologies revealed DC subsets change drastically. We show that Mgl2+ cDC2 depletion is crucial for type 2 but not type 17 allergic responses.
Completely agree @profandrewmac.bsky.social! A pleasure to work with wonderful colleagues at several institutions including @mrccmm.bsky.social, @lydiabeckeriii.bsky.social and @uoe-eid.bsky.social. Fungi are major causes of asthma but why our immune cells do this is poorly understood.
Maternal type 2 immunity promotes a microchimeric transfer of systemic type 2 immunity to offspring. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.01....

So chuffed with how many people were in the room for our Exeter Respiratory Research meeting last week!! Ready for an exciting set of talks in the New Year 🫁🤙
Special thanks to our theme reps Adilia (@adilia12.bsky.social), Michael, Chris and Owen for presenting this time around.

Thanks André, great to hear you enjoyed hearing about the groups work!
A pleasure to congratulate Dr Daniel Conn (not on here yet) from the group who successfully passed his PhD viva today. What a fanatastic journey it’s been @mrccmm.bsky.social
Huge thanks to the awesome examiners @billhorsnell.bsky.social, @lloydlab.bsky.social and Mark Ramsdale.
Huge thanks to the awesome team, authors on this study who are here include @emerhickey.bsky.social @profandrewmac.bsky.social @darrenthomson.bsky.social. I hope the other amazing authors join soon!
First 🦋 post (great to join everyone here) about our paper that's been published in JACI: www.jacionline.org/article/S009...
Check it out if you have ever wondered how fungal spore growth controls how dendritic cells (clearly THE best immune cell) trigger inflammation that causes asthma...
