A profusion of blooming camas lilies gives the long, green grass in this meadow a purple-indigo tinge. The meadow is also interspersed with many Oregon oak trees that are just starting to leaf out, casting their dark sharifs on the ground. The sky is blue with a few light clouds along the distant horizon.
A closer-up shot of what is making the meadow purplish-indigo: gorgeous camas lilies! Their foliage looks a lot like thick grass blades, and they are growing in thick, long, green grass. This cluster of lilies shows off flowers with 6 indigo petals that have bright yellow, pollen-covered stamens that contrast beautifully with the indigo. There are still several buds that have yet to open on the top of each lily column, and they are a pale periwinkle color. Love these so much! Probably one of my favorite flowers ever!
