Couldn't think of a theme for this week's walk until I remembered it was my turn to lead and, you know, the meditation I had written had a theme. Maybe use that? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
This week's theme - the senses, main 5 + mind.

I love these little yellow iris. I found a pile of them dumped in the woods behind my neighborhood about 20 years ago. I brought them all home and they've been a welcome addition to my flower beds since.

I would pay to watch our pResident play this game. Just one round on Pay-per-view. Mr. Man, woman, camera, TV ought to ace it right.

This is Marty. He played the role of Bruiser in a college production of "Legally Blonde" and nailed every line. Was confused when people were impressed though. What, like it's hard? 14/10 (IG: sirbaldwinandmarty)

A panel of 6 images. 3 on top and 3 on the bottom row. Each picture is of a different type of gate or doorway. Top row: L-R Old victorian style gate with iris blooming around it. The gate is open.

White picket fence with picket gate in front of a sky blue house a small mailbox is attached to the fence. The gate is closed.

White picket fence and gate in front of a yellow house. This gate is also closed

Bottom Row: L-R An office building door with the word ENTRANCE and a very large arrow pointing to the right.

A bent and twisted chain link gate with a chain and padlock barely keeping it closed

A small old chain link that garden gate that no longer has any fencing. It sits infront of a set of cement steps covered in leaves and vegetation

I'm enjoying adding a little dharma theme to my walk before sangha and taking a few pics that "represent" the theme. Last week was the 5 Remembrances. This week part of the Bodhisattva Vows - Dharma gates are boundless. I vow to enter them all.

It's almost like this whole crypto thing is just another Ponzi scheme or something

I didn't know this either! How cool for the scientists to figure this out and for the people in the study to take part in such a monumental human achievement.

for the clock it was the rhythm - honed in immediately - comforting.
One night though there was a fluorescent bulb loudly humming and I found the constant work of letting that irritation go ended up being an amazing sit and not just the irritation dissolved but for a brief moment identity did too

To clarify, using hearing as my object has always worked a little better. Breath was too subtle for me to hold attention until several years into practice. I do miss that clock. It's tick was distinctive in that it ticked a little harder as the second hand made the downward part of the circle

There used to be a clock in our meditation hall that could hold my attention. Some who didnt care for the ticking replaced it with a silent one. But generally whatever abmbient sounds work for me.

A split image with a broken egg on pavement in the top position and a broken bone, probably of a bird, on pavement. This to me represents the first 3 remembrances of our physical nature to grow old, get sick at times, and eventually die.

A quarter coin facing heads up on pavement. Representing the loss of the things and people most dear to us as the 4th remembrance. Oh how we have a "love" of money. One of the iconic cravings of our current samsaric experience.

An old pay phone on a twisted post bent to the ground. Leaves collect around the bent base. Representing the 4th remembrance of separation from those we love and are dear to us. The communication lines and connection eventually severed.

The last remembrance that our only possession is our karma, the blurred business names painted on the front of a closed garage. The letters overlap previous names of the business making the name last used difficult to distinguish. A sign below indicates the property is available for purchase.

Things I saw on my walk before sangha. The 5 Remembrances seemed to be the theme.

I was thinking I was just in denial, head in the sand, but I think I'm just stunned and in shock that this one deeply flawed person can actually bring the world to the brink like this. And maybe most stunning - is who it is -Donald Fucking Trump??!!
