On the third day of #fishmas a red grouper in its hole, summer 2013, Florida Bay, FL, USA. To folllow my pinned skeet from earlier that explains some of this unique association of interacting organisms.

I hear it’s #Fishmas so here’s a trick I learned from @solomonrdavid.bsky.social Is this spinner shark “scary” looking? Or just a goofball with a frowny face and a boopable snoot?

It only took 20+ years, but the "Mystery Mollusc" paper came out this week. It is a swimming nudibranch that gallops in slow motion through the deep water-column. To top it off, it is bioluminescent, and we were able to film its glow with our special low-light camera.🦑🧪

My book is called why sharks matter, and it’s a book about the world of shark science and conservation! It’s rigorous enough to be used as a textbook but accessible enough for the public.

I did a 60-city book tour!
