A photo of a tray with three sections empty. One has chopped carrot in it. The other has what can only be described as a posit of brown dog vomit and an insole liner of a sneaker (or a used panty liner from the mid 1700s). The kind of meal that would have you happily tossing yourself overboard.
NEW: Growing fears of food shortages on USS Tripoli & other US ships in the Middle East.
This photo is the kind of meals now being served. It was sent by a sailor to her family.
Families are now trying to send food parcels to the ships.

My stupid thumb and other fingers holding up a Gilly and Billy enamel pin stuck to a red card that says "Hey kids, it's GILLY!"
A violent reminder that Gilly & Billy pins are back in stock and look great on your jean jacket, backpack, or lapel if you’re running for office.

Meme that says, how I feel after a great job interview. It's on a photo of a confident, happy Leonardo DiCaprio jauntily walking toward the camera.
Picture of a sad woman clutching a pillow curled up on a chair. Text says, depression: signs, symptoms, and treatment
I got a job offer letter including this meme. I WISH. It was more like the 2nd pic. After my interview, I cried so hard my cat left my lap. Why do I always think the worst?

Biking connects you to your city. You feel the sun, move your body, and actually experience your neighborhood.
Cars do the exact opposite. They wall you off from the world, make streets dangerous, and shrink your entire community down to just point A and point B.

If you usually avoid youtube comments, that's totally understandable, but start reading them for music videos. In my experience they're usually sweet and filled with people's happy memories.

So You Lost A War To Iran
And you're going to try to convince us you… won. Wow. Wow, OK
Some longer thoughts on this, because no matter how long the war lasts, its outcome is no longer in doubt.

I wrote up what the Iran War and crisis in the Strait of Hormuz means for the world. If this continues to spiral, we may be heading for a very different world than the one we currently inhabit. The last bit of normal may be gone for a generation.

People keep saying “oh so you want OPEN BORDERS” as some kind of gotcha and like. Yeah. When I was a kid you could just drive into Canada. On accident, even. It was great, and I think we should do that instead of kidnapping children. Normalize being normal instead of being kidnapping weirdos

Q: You don’t regret that people might’ve lost important income to support their lives?
A: No, I think it was more important to reduce the federal deficit.
Q: Ok. Did you reduce the federal deficit?
A: No, we didn’t.

Often nature moments are envisioned and waited for.
You see something or imagine it might happen, and you have to plan and return multiple times
Often it never happens
Then there are the completely unexpected encounters
Like a baby goose hopping on mamas back
And it's FUCKING ADORABLE!

Photo of a king penguin, right side of photo, walking passed a Gentoo penguin chick, to the left of the photo. The king penguin has a more black back and flippers than the usual grey and looks rather tatty because it is in the middle of moulting. Moulting proceeds in a general top down distribution so the head and neck of the bird are smoother with the more characteristic grey on the neck. The cheek patch is much more yellow than orange which may suggest that this is a younger pre-breeding bird (ref Polar Biology 31, 56-61 (2007).
The Gentoo chick looks as if its white front feathers have got wet with recent rain, it is standing nearly face on. The foreground is sand while the background is the blurred green foliage and orange flowers of the Sea Cabbage
Excuse me sir. If I eat my greens will I get to be as tall as you?
Even a moulting King Penguin looks rather superior next to a young Gentoo chick.

This is why people are so upset when people say Democrats need to stop focusing on trans issues because it's too woke and people aren't ready for it: we're not talking minor inconvenience here. We're not talking microaggressions
We're talking: they are stripping IDs from trans people

To any Democrat who ever said about any issue, "Maybe if we agree with Republicans just this far, they'll stop there," remember that you were wrong, it was obvious at the time, and you really should never believe that again about any issue, ever.

A pair of White-tail Kites perch together on a sunny afternoon on a bare-limbed tree. The sky is a cloudless blue.
Back-to-back, two Swallow-tail Bee Eaters perch on a leafless Acacia tree branch. Bathed in sunlight, their vibrant green/blue/yellow colors appear in stark contrast to beige Etosha National Park (Namibia) background.
Two Cedar Waxwings perch atop a tree on a sunny, cloud-free day.
A pair of California Quail forage for food on some low, leafy ground cover.
Today's #BirdOfTheDay is #TwoOfaKind.
Supposedly, odd numbers make for better compositions. So these all suck. Probably.

In 1999, a woman named Jessica Gonzales sought and obtained an order of protection against her physically abusive husband ("AH"), who had repeatedly threatened to kill her and their three children. The order included language specifically limiting when and where AH was allowed to see the children.

There is no reforming the gestapo. There is no reforming the slave catchers.
People that are talking about ICE’s “training” or that they need more should not be listened to. This is what policing is. More training = more money to do exactly what they’re doing now but more “efficiently.”

It takes an enormous amount of courage to stand there, keep filming, and scream "What the fuck, you asshole" at someone wearing a badge who just shot and killed one of your neighbors in cold blood.
