Here's a Coot using a Goose as a taxi for the #MixedPairs theme of #BirdOfTheDay. The quality of te photo isn't the best, but it was a spectacular sight.

Photo of a king penguin, right side of photo, walking passed a Gentoo penguin chick, to the left of the photo. The king penguin has a more black back and flippers than the usual grey and looks rather tatty because it is in the middle of moulting. Moulting proceeds in a general top down distribution so the head and neck of the bird are smoother with the more characteristic grey on the neck. The cheek patch is much more yellow than orange which may suggest that this is a younger pre-breeding bird (ref Polar Biology 31, 56-61 (2007). The Gentoo chick looks as if its white front feathers have got wet with recent rain, it is standing nearly face on. The foreground is sand while the background is the blurred green foliage and orange flowers of the Sea Cabbage

Walking in the shallows next to a thin strip of beach are two similar sized birds. In front is the marbled godwit with its Buffy tan coat and pink bill turning to black at the tip. Just behind and slightly in front is a gray willet with a shorter gray bill turning black at the tip. They are both examining the ground for signs of more food.
I have to add another #BirdoftheDay for #MixedPairs theme. This morning I saw a willet hanging out with 3 marbled godwits. I think I’ve seen the same foursome at my lagoon before. I gotta tell you—it’s a cute group. #Birds #Nature

A small drama unfolds in midair between two hummingbirds in a lush green forest in Dominica. The birds hover among thin tree branches, suspended against a softly blurred background of tropical vegetation. On the right side of the image is a brightly colored hummingbird with shimmering metallic green feathers and a small black crest on its head. Its wings are extended in a rapid blur as it hovers, body angled slightly upward. This is an Antillean Crested Hummingbird, a tiny but assertive species known for defending feeding areas.
