New #Reproductive #Ecology paper in Royal Society Open Science! doi.org/10.1098/rsos...
We show the strategic decisions taken by male banded mongooses to use #sneaky alternative reproductive tactics in their groups, and how sneaking enables them to improve their access to high-fecundity females.

Early mating advantage in male banded #mongooses linked to some novel glue-like properties in their ejaculates.
Thanks Michael Cant, Jon Blount, Magali Meniri, and Hazel Nichols. Francis Mwanguhya and Robert Businge led all fieldwork.
Was stupidly difficult to figure out who was on this platform a few months back. I hope a few of you such as @fayejthompson.bsky.social and @laurarlabarge.bsky.social don't mind that I just trawled your following lists. Your previous hard work is appreciated.
So I see all of science twitter has finally migrated over here! Only just checked Bluesky again after doing some post PhD travel in Aus🦘. Was such a lonely place 5 months ago.
So my 3rd PhD paper also came in Antioxidants! Shows male banded mongooses defend the next generation from oxidative damage. Don't think i'm ever going to have 2 papers out on the same day again!

Proud to say I had my PhD viva last week! The best part is ALWAYS the cake, amazing stuff from Sophie! Don't have any time to catch my breath as flying out tomorrow and giving a talk at #ECBB (Zurich) on Wednesday, 3 days later Aus for some fieldwork in the outback before #ISBE in Melbourne!
