I’m looking for an automated way to read others’s scientific data without giving credit or acknowledgement, and also claim full credit for insights from it. And I want it to have a fitting name
OAI: say no more
As a recipient of federal grants from #NIH (for now! 😭) that funds research in my lab, I'd like to sincerely thank American taxpayers on #TaxDay for investing in scientific research that lays the foundation for medical and technological innovation in this country and keeps us ALL safe and healthy
Hi everyone in the academic and STEM spaces… please check in on your friends, colleagues, and students. People are struggling right now and a lot of folks need support, a kind word, or even just to know you are there if they need you. Sending hugs to my community! We are in this together.

#Artemis is circling the Moon right now. And later this week, our team's experiment launches to the #ISS. Tiny worms. Defined gut microbiomes. Here's why the two are connected. 🧵

A must read this summer!
Science, humanity, and care from the amazing @kateclancy.bsky.social
I want the second half of my career to matter.
I waffle between "steely resolve to stay & help rebuild US science infrastructure (but at the cost of my indiv research elagenda)" vs "leaving so that I achieve meaningful translation of my efforts (but at the cost of multiple next generations)"
Wtf
Maryam Afghah has been selected as the 2026 Kaiser-Goldberg Research Fellowship Recipient. She will participate in a 10–12 week summer program in a Society member's lab. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4ssaGJb

When someone says „Scientists do not want you to know“ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.
I'm always worried I'll get penalized for this approach (cuz hello bias!) and it does not come naturally to me (cuz hello training!) but if I want my lab to stay funded, it looks like I consciously need to change the way I write my grants
Happy to share our group’s new publication led by postdoctoral fellow Dr. Mohamed Gaber on obesity-mediated breast cancer risk. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Congratulations!
I was recently promoted to Associate Professor. I’m so grateful and I also wanted to tell the truth behind what people call “effortless” success.
I wrote about infertility, fostering, work as coping, and choosing differently in this next chapter

This exactly. I wish/wonder if they asked respondents about plans to support scientists in training.
This is paywalled for me, so maybe it is mentioned, but I wish they had asked how many are not accepting students or fellows into their groups, or are only taking 'volunteer' students who don't need to be paid a stipend.
Was just coming here to post this
Happy to share this new, very intentional chapter. I have left UCLA after 14 years to join the University of Colorado Anschutz as Professor of Biomedical Informatics and Neurosurgery and the inaugural Marsico Chair in Excellence in Functional Precision Medicine/n

"In this cohort study..., heightened cumulative lifespan stress and elevated inflammation were associated with shorter survival among Black participants, suggesting these pathways may represent plausible mechanisms mediating racial disparities in mortality among Black and White US individuals."
I’m sorry Needhi
In triple-negative breast cancer, sensory neurons activate cancer-associated fibroblasts to secrete collagen, thus stimulating a dense extracellular matrix that drives immune exclusion @cellcellpress.bsky.social

But! Mice made a nest in our snowblower over the summer and it won’t start. And we’re expecting double digit snow this weekend. Should’ve tried that before 🙄
I am trying to do all the work I can during whatever space-time I have left. I don’t know how much that is, but I know it’s shrinking. I hope to leave behind work that is useful to the future.
