A new site for Coleophora solitariella just found, almost on the doorstep, where there was only a small amount of the foodplant. Sometimes it pays to have a quick look. Somewhat unexpected! S Hants, VC11 #teammoth

A couple of hours out pre-work added three to the year list (now on 86).
Pebble Hook-tip & Eriocrania sangii were nice and photogenic, Adela reaumurella much less so.
The inevitable Coleophora serratella cases also seen.

After a warm Saturday, and with a brand new bulb, had hoped for more than the final tally of 18/13 last night.
Only Brindled Beauty (4) & Waved Umber (3) weren't singles.

Did include 5 NFY however, with Iron Prominent, Muslin Moth, Angle Shades & Red-green Carpet shown

Our friend @milneorchid.bsky.social needs your help!
He's working on an orchid book for the Collins New Naturalist series, and needs more orchid images.
Find out how you could help Richard & maybe get one of your orchid photos (with credit) into this prestigious new book:

Following further examination, this indeed turned out to be Flixweed Descurainia sophia, a very good record for vc11 South Hampshire. Last noted at this site many decades ago, so worth double-checking.
