I recently counted my WIPs, just novels not shorter fiction - I have 20 right now. None are even close to publishable.
My kid, on the other hand, spent 2 years writing and published their first novel at age 20. It blows me away!

Some people write a book and publish it in six months.

I, on the other hand, am sitting on several that have been WIPs for ten plus years. 🤭🙈

There is something special about reading/hearing that someone enjoyed your work. There are plenty of ways to support authors even if you don't buy/borrow a book. Reviews really help or even a rating and you could make an authors day!
