No, it’s not a painting—these surreal skies are real! This is a rare ‘fire rainbow’ spotted over the Rocky Mountains, created when sunlight hits ice-crystal clouds at just the right angle. Seeing a fire rainbow requires extreme luck.

I'm deep down the rabbit hole on FROGFISH, 60 species of anglerfish in family Antennariidae.

They are deeply, utterly WEIRD & MARVELOUS.

Most walk on modified fins.
Others use jet propulsion.
Some are capable of air-breathing.
Some are "hairy", others blend perfectly in sargassum.

A juvenile cormorant resting in their usual place after a bout of fishing. This cormorant is sat on a protruding tree stump in water. Head turned to the right after I stood on a twig and was spotted.

She died in a mysterious lab accident at 24.

Arthur Dean stole her research, stole it and renamed it from "The Ball Method" to "The Dean Method."
