I think my draft is basic, but a good starting point. It needs to use more symbolism and have more shots and a more open constraint. I think if I listen to it currently, it would be too simple a message and won't mesh well with the audio. #hwa7 #listening

The third voice is something that emerges from the tension of the video and audio. It is the overall message that is portrayed stylistically. It differs from the artist's voice since it isn't always exact, and GPT's voice since it's not a remix of the artist's voice. #hwa7 #thirdvoice
Patty uses surrealism by letting the visuals and sound diverge or complement each other, and by the use of metaphors. For example, she talks about using a fishbowl to represent a confined space. I think the most important thing to remember is that the meaning isn't fixed. #hwa7 #surrealism
Patty talked about using limited space and having friends play characters so that she could make her film. I think that I would do that as well, trying to use empty classrooms, props, and people from around campus to make my project. #hwa7 #budgetconstraints
I think the emoji balloons felt especially charged to me since it was one of the things that made the most sense to me. It was replacing actors and portraying that dramatic look mentioned in the film. I think it teaches me to think more in symbolism and metaphors. #hwa7 #propsarenotjustprops
I'll admit, SME4 and the third voice are intimidating. I have no idea whether a third voice will emerge. I think what Patty talked about is that the last few mins should have something that connects the audio and video. However, I am not sure how I would do it. #hwa7 #interviewwithpatty
"Fast and Furious is like soap operas with cars." I never really got into F&F, but I know people who love them. It reminds me of sports and the connection Patty made in her film. Also, I think both have to make drama to keep the audience's attention. F&F went to space... #hwa7 #interviewwithpatty
Caught this too! I noticed the toilet paper showing up constantly, and while I didn't fully understand why it was there, I did presume it was because of Procter & Gamble trying to sell its products. #hwa7 #interviewwithpatty
Yay, I picked up on that. I thought that the emojis were supposed to be the reactions of the cast since they replaced the characters in the video. #hwa7 #interviewwithpatty
I have always wanted to create big video projects with my friends since I really enjoyed filmmaking/editing in middle school. While my style and content would be different, I feel like this interview would hit on the same constraints of informal filmmaking. #hwa7 #interviewwithpatty
To my understanding, the two seasons of Painted Dreams revolve around soap operas, their history, place in society, etc. I think that the visuals serve as an anti-environment that mimics and distorts what soap operas are, especially in S2. I guess she does this to show the artificiality of soaps.
I am not completely sure why this shot is included at 31:01. If I had to guess, the haze signifies the "doubt" that Patty describes. However, I am unsure as to why Lisa is submerged and having beads poured over her. #painteddreams
I like the hard cut between these two frames since it really emphasizes the similarity between soaps and sports. It really does serve the same purpose. We just consider one more masculine and the other more feminine. #painteddreams
"soap's masculine equivalent...sports"
I always thought that things like WWE were more like reality shows. It's no secret that it is scripted. I'm glad it was brought up here, where sports are like soap operas.

I actually really like this entire sequence since it is a soap opera-like skit. It follows all the rules Patty lays out next, and it exposes the rules of soap operas to me. #painteddreams
Charmin is owned by Procter & Gamble, so I somewhat understand why it shows up so often throughout the video. However, I wonder why it's sprinkled throughout the video when it is only explained now. #painteddreams
I like this juxtoposed shot compared to the previous shot. They reinforce what the narration says. It really helps me follow along some, since I am still confused about what is happening in this video. #painteddreams
I like how, whenever they talk about a person, this shot or something similar comes up. I like the dramatization. I am confused about the meaning of the toilet paper and various other things on her desk though. #painteddreams
I like that she describes identity in a way that relates it to recasting in soap operas. What we call our identity constantly changes and is new over time. #painteddreams
This scene goes on for a long time. I think it makes us sit with the length of the "Guiding Light" mentioned before this scene. This is speculation on my part.

6. I love your dog, and the shots themselves are great!
5. I think this system fails when the wildlife clip of the deer is shown because it seems to be removed from the main focus of the dog. I suggest removing it or having some other videos/stills that can explain its purpose.
4. I think this film is unpredictable with its timing. Many moments speed up or slow down. It helps me notice the importance of your dog, although I am unable to pick up the why.
3. I think the bike ride at the end is a nice way to close the film. It seems like it is trying to be a nice closing statement about the world we live in. Removing it would make the film feel incomplete and abrupt.
2. I think I learned to watch it with the fire effect at 1:25. That is when I started to pick up more on the 4 elements since it is very nature-oriented.

1. I am not sure what this video is teaching. If I had to guess, it is something to do with nature or the 4 elements because of the shots and the effects.
5. I think this system fails around the 1:30 point. Despite the importance of this point, I think it doesn't really add anything new. It doesn't particularly clear up the message or give me any new insight.
4. Overall, it is the same pace throughout and very repetitive in nature. Personally, I think it is too slow for my liking, but since I can't pick up on the lesson, it might be a deliberate choice.
3. The still at 1:30 would indicate that the mug is about to reset. I think it is a good transition to restarting it.
