Hi Daniel - which thermal did you get ? Does it work during the day in rainforest or does the heat from the surrounding vegetation mask the birds ?

It’s my annual bat counting time where I count all the bats passing through the garden west to east through into Normanby Park between 9.20 & 9.45 amazingly this years total was exactly the same as last years!

Thank you for your reply, I will take a look. I did think about a headlamp as that would leave me hands free and allow me to digiscope but wasn't sure if they would be powerful enough.
