Oops, you´re right - that was a misunderstanding, since Freddi is currently working on Eocene proto-horses

The painting depicts four primitive horses (Propalaeotherium) – two at the top and two at the bottom – with the one on the top left looking at the viewer, whilst the one on the right is feeding on the ground; of the two at the bottom, one is running to the left and the other to the right; all the animals have dark legs and muzzles, their manes are short and black, their bellies are light in colour, and the rest of their bodies are a beautiful, rich brown

In the face of this disaster, I am lost for words: all I can say is that it should inspire us all to do much more to fight it

You’re very welcome. Its name is ‘Horridonia horrida’ and it is a typical representative of the ‘Zechstein Sea’. The reconstruction turned out to be difficult, as the spines are frequently broken off in the preserved fossils and are also very, very delicate.

let's say, a bit closer to crown Crocodylia (this is an atoposaurid), so actually this is just another pseudosuchian, only that their kin is usually referred to as crocodyliformes after the TJ extinction. "Protosuchians" got the pseudosuchian ticket for survival, like the sebecos did across KPg

A very happy #MothersDay to all the fossil hunting mums out there and of course we've got to celebrate the mother of palaeontology, Mary Anning! Palaeontology wouldn't nearly be the science it is today without her incredible influence.
