I feel incredibly lucky (and relieved!) that I spotted this Terciopelo while hiking in the Costa Rican rainforest. Itโs one of the most dangerous snakes in the country. That camouflage is nearly perfect. ๐

Two new #skink species - ๐๐ค๐ช๐ฏ๐ค๐ฆ๐ญ๐ญ๐ข ๐ซ๐ช๐ฏ๐ค๐ฉ๐ถ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ด๐ช๐ด and ๐. ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฏ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ด๐ช๐ด - have been described from southwestern Sichuan, China, bringing the country's Scincella count to 19.
