Sunset sky with tall evergreen trees in shadow across the bottom and right side of the photo. Most of the sky is layered with wispy purple clouds, lavender at the top, them becoming deeper purple before mixing with a dark pink band at the bottom.

I am in awe of this woman who is able to articulate so clearly in highly charged situations. Respect.
Important thread from an NIH scientist who has been placed on leave for daring to speak up about the myriad unfolding disasters caused by RFK Jr.
One of so very many human beings in our country being treated inhumanely by our government. We are not OK.
So often we humans try to shape our Earth to our own advantage without thought or care for the repercussions. Thanks, NOAA, for righting this wrong. #pnw #environment
A treasure!
Driftwood remains of a large tree rest on large gray boulders on a sandy shore. The twisted, craggy roots are attached to a substantial length of the trunk. The blue-green sea beyond is calm under a cloudy sky with colors varying from white to dark blue to deep gray.
Awaiting a ferry yesterday I came upon this venerable grandmother at Saltair Beach Park. Is she looking out to where she came from? What did she see as she journeyed to her resting place? I wonder. Grateful she shared herself with me. #WeekOforOld #AlphabetChallenge #pnw #driftwood #kitsappeninsula
It's a beautiful memory, made sweeter by knowing these siblings are still friends well into their adult lives.
A six-year-old boy clad in jeans and a white t-shirt is curled up on the floor next to his 2-day-old sister. She is asleep on a small pastel plaid blanket laid over a fluffy sheepskin. Their faces are less than 6 inches apart. And though he has his back to the camera with just a partial profile showing, his eyelashes tell us that his eyes are open. He doesn't want to miss a moment. Nine months was a long time to wait.
As I carried his #new sister into the house, our 6-year-old was literally jumping up & down at the top of the stairs. A few hours later, in the quiet, he was still right there, soaking her in and making sure all was well. #blueskyartshow
Thank you!

Black/brown & white tabby cat is asleep in a purple cat bed with a brightly colored design of lime green, orange, yellow and red, plus black and white striped trim. The cat is lying on her side, almost upside-down. Her bottom front leg and two back legs are bunched together while her top front leg is curled up near her white chest. Her tail is wrapped around her and she has a smile on her face.

Let me say this plainly: Iranian children have as much of a right to live and thrive as American children.
Their babies MUST be as precious to me as my 6 niblings and my baby grandnib are IF I want them to have a future.
If I want a future for my kin AND humanity, I MUST act like it.
So must you.
Black and white photo circa late 1920's. A somewhat disheveled man in a black suit complete with tie is standing in a small rowboat that is tied up to the shore. His tackle box and a metal bucket sit on one of the boat seats. He has one arm outstretched to his side and the other extended upwards holding a very small fish (about 6 inches long). Behind small round glasses and under a flat cap, the man's face is animated with pleasure and an "oh" expression. The small size of his catch has not diminished his sense of humor.
I come from a long line of people who loved to fish. My great-grandfather, whom I never met, had out-sized fun with the silly diminutive size of his catch of the day. But knowing my great-grandmother, I assure you this fish, small as it was, didn't go to waste. #WeekNforNonsense #AlphabetChallenge
"This is a time to stand up & say what's right--to make clear that there exists a moral order & a moral law in this world. And what Trump is proposing to do is fundamentally evil."
We are all tainted when America's leaders commit crimes in our names. This is unacceptable. We are not OK. #resist

ICYMI: Here are 3 anti-abortion attacks Republicans have launched recently.
With everything going on, it can be easy for this stuff to fly under the radar—but Republicans have not let up on their extremist, anti-women crusade.

I love this for you - and for him!
Ike was just that sweet, too.
A black/brown and white tabby cat has climbed into a small woven wastebasket with a brown, green and pink design. His bottom is down in the basket, but his upper half doesn't fit. He has one white paw draped over the side of the basket. This kitty has a white chest, muzzle, & blaze, and a black and brown tabby pattern on the rest of his face. With his black-rimmed eyes focused straight ahead, he looks relaxed and pretty darn smug.
