today’s #birdoftheday theme is #ABCD - I have a coot, a cormorant and a brambling. I do have a Carolina duck but wasn’t sure if that’s their correct name - maybe they are wood ducks?

The humble wood pigeon - I wanted him to pose with his pink plumage against the purple foliage but would he play ball 🙄😍 but I had fun practicing with a very ancient tripod - it definitely helps with the full zoomy

I love the swans at this time of year. This guy had just come belting down the canal after seeing off an interloper - he’s just settling down here with a shake and ruffle of all his feathers.

@btobirds.bsky.social I’m currently near Cassiobury Park Watford on the grand union canal in my boat and Cetti’s warbler is singing repeatedly (it’s 5.10am or so - it doesn’t sing so much in the daylight)

Beautiful song thrush - it’s a bit heavily cropped . I was getting closer and not spooking him but then a cheery, noisy family turned up and the thrush took fright #birdwatching #songthrush

True but a British winter followed by an extraordinarily wet and cold spring still makes this mushroom erupting now very very odd

2 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

We never get this mushroom in spring in the Uk

3 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

But appearing in march - that’s my query- I’m used to picking them in late summer

3 weeks ago 1 0 2 0

Yes I agree and I’ve eaten masses of parasol mushrooms - my query is it fruiting in March - we normally see it in the late summer - very odd
