It traces back to Proposition 13, which was promoted as a way to protect homeowners from being taxed out of their homes when values rise. This law has been exploited to generate massive corporate tax giveaways, including an estimated $200 million windfall at Trump’s 555 California Street building in San Francisco. By including commercial and industrial property, the law created a system that billionaire and corporate landowners exploit to lock in artificially low tax bills for decades—even while their buildings skyrocket in value and generate enormous profits.

Say what you want about the #CAGov clown car primary, but billionaire/ self-proclaimed "class traitor" Tom Steyer rebranding Prop 13 as the "Trump Tax Loophole" is an interesting rhetorical move.

Is this ad really the issue here, or is it just a tactic in this negotiation? Does the President want the USMCA free trade deal renegotiated, or is he looking to do two separate deals, one with Canada, one with Mexico?

Dear CBS News personalities: The Canadians' ad did not portray Reagan's tariff policy fraudulently, and you do not have to repeat the president's false characterization of it.
