Making your own engine is less like using frozen pizza and more like growing/milling your own wheat, cultivating your own yeast/tomatoes/peppers and farming your own eggs/meat/cheese from scratch. And making an engine without any libraries is like re-inventing 10,000s of years of agriculture.
