Here's a cool little game from KenneyJam. There's a neat power-curve to the upgrades - you need to upgrade damage to generate upgrade points faster, and then upgrade fire rate since the missiles eventually start appearing more often and overwhelm you.

After #KenneyJam I sent a survey to all participants asking questions related to assets, including what 3D file format they used!
I think glTF can get another boost if Unity decides to support it out-of-the-box, and people are taught about the importance of open formats!

Attended my first game jam, Kenney Jam 2025 on @itch.io. Had fun and I liked being provided assets to work with.
Had some last minute issues so I missed the submission deadline. At least I made a game in 48 hours, which was the real reason I joined.

I limited myself to only using #Godot and the supplied assets for this project. Nothing was taken to Blender, no textures were edited, everything was set up, scaled, etc all in Godot. You dont need to learn a whole suite of programs and skills to make games, just start making!

#KenneyJam lessons learned:
- GDScript in #Godot really is faster (to work in) than C#. I might end up missing some data structures but I also might not actually need them.
- You don't NEED a signal manager or a scene manager (but they help!).
- Reference scenes by path, not PackedScene exports.
Was able to kinda gather my thoughts and do a postmortem on Power Play for the #kenneyjam, and the summary is plan ahead and keep things simple. Abstract classes are great, but when you have all of 4 mechanics, itll probably be faster to just make them as you go π

Another year, another #KenneyJam! This year I made Distress Call which is a spaceship control panel simulator ππ₯οΈ
To send an SOS, you need to repair your damaged ship, but things get pretty hectic in the process!

Didn't manage to create everything in my scope (wanted some RTS) for #KenneyJam, but at least there's something there. The base is good for further things afterwards anyway!
If anyone wants to try it, I'd suggest waiting until I fix the performance.
Finished what I could, gotta iron out the page a bit and there's a couple bugs I missed, but I'm pretty happy with what I did in ~15 hours of work. Try it here!
