Last #AlphabettiDischetti for a while as we go on holiday today.

REM - Document
The album where the band fully realise their transition to a (comparatively) harder rock style. I'll always love their low-fi indie beginnings, but this was a recipe for commercial success.

Arcade Fire - Funeral
Really enjoyed this. Upbeat and light but with a lot of musical depth at the same time.
Definitely need to check out more of their stuff.

Another very strong #5DebutAlbums7579 option.
Television - Marquee Moon
Is it post-punk? Is it New Wave? Is it Indie? Is it Alt-rock?
No one can really agree but it clearly heavily influenced all of those genres. Massively important album.

Paloma Faith - Do you want the truth or something beautiful?
One of my daughter's but it has grown on me too. Worked out perfectly timing wise as we were cooking together and could put it on.
Her spag bol was good too.

Portishead - Third
A significant departure from their Trip Hop roots. Going with a more random, somewhat experimental soundscape.
I will always prefer their earlier style, but as a standalone album it's still very strong.

Gang of Four - Entertainment!
Pulling double duty today as it is also on my #5DebutAlbums7579 longlist.
Enjoyable post punk effort, but it a debut field as crowded as this, I don't think it will make my top 5. Worth a listen though.

Tonight's #AlphabettiDischetti is the big one.
The Cure - Disintegration
We all have our cult films that we love more than most other people do (Big Lebowski for me). Well this is my cult album.
Deep down, I know it isn't the greatest album ever, but to me it is unbeatable.

Stevie Wonder - Innervision
Wonder's albums remain the greatest revelation of this list. A man I only knew for cheesy love songs had so much more to say and in such a brilliant way.

#5DebutAlbums7579 will be a busy one, but let's start with the obvious one as always.
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasure
Feels like a good 75% of the music I love (at least post '79) can trace roots back to this masterpiece.
A strong contender for the entire competition.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig Lazarus Dig
Another day another 5 star Nick Cave album from my collection. Not actually my favourite of his insane 21st century run, but that only goes to show how strong that run has been.

Rage Against the Machine - Self titled
Ah, that's more like it. There is a lot of value to edgy music, but only if the edginess serves a purpose, and the music surrounding it is strong. This album hits both those targets big time.

There is some nu metal I don't mind. At least from a nostalgia perspective. And Deftones are still releasing some great stuff.
But Limp Bizkit were just embarrassing in my opinion. Needs burying in the past alongside the likes of Kid Rock and other 'shock' acts.
Fairly convinced whoever is running my #1001Album generator is taking the piss. Claims the next album is bloody Limp Bizkit, with one of the most critically panned albums of my youth.
Looked it up in the book and it isn't even there! No chance I'm listening to that shite.
No supposed album 178.
Yeah. Sadly doesn't appear that he stayed around long enough to emass a giant back catalogue.
Then again, he was around a lot longer than Jeff Buckley but I somehow have managed to buy countless releases with his name on.
I'll have to check it out. I'll start with your 15 and make myself a little playlist.
Sometimes you just miss someone first time around and it can be really exciting to dive in when you find something new (old) that you like.

Album #178
Elliott Smith - Either/Or
Another great find on the list. Whilst I recognized a couple of songs vaguely, the rest were completely new and very enjoyable.
Quality folk-ish effort.

Pulp - Different Class
Will always argue that this is an example of the perfect album. Not my absolute favourite (still easy top 10) but every track on it is at least great. Nothing filler gets within a mile of it.

*Fontaines DC
Damn autocorrect.
We can but try.
You had me wondering when you said that. Apparently she had a debut Mixtape (Telefone) and a debut studio album (Room 25).
I'm really not sure of the difference given both are full length, but both Wikipedia and Metacritic call it her debut album. Not sure what that makes Telefone though.
Evening Rich,
My #5DebutAlbums1519 are:
1) Fountains DC - Dogrel
2) Phoebe Bridgers - Stranger in the Alps
3) Noname - Room 25
4) Idles - Brutalism
5) Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I sit and think and sometimes I just sit
HMs to Nilufa Yanya, Dave, Jamie XX.
Time for another voting day listen-off for #5DebutAlbums1519, this time at the cricket.
#NowPlaying
Noname - Room 25
Nilufa Yanya - Miss Universe
Dave - Psychodrama
Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I sit and think and sometimes I just sit
Jamie XX - In Colour
2 places left for them to scrap over.
Can't believe I nearly forgot this beauty for #5DebutAlbums1519
Phoebe Bridges - Stranger in the Alps
Better late than never, it goes straight into my certain choices. And not just because of the excellent Lebowski reference.

David Bowie - Diamond Dogs
Not the best Bowie album of the 70s by any means. Seems to exist in a limbo somewhere between the Glam era, the soul era, and the Berlin era. Tries to touch on all three and doesn't fully work.
Has its moments though.

Oasis - (What's the story) Morning Glory
By coincidence, my second Oasis album of the day after #AlphabettiDischetti earlier. Must be 30 years since I listened to two in one day. IMO, this is the stronger effort. More variety, better produced.

Next #5DebutAlbums1519 listen
Floating Points - Elaenia
Exceptional elecronic album. Not sure if a full album of, admittedly brilliant ambient music deserves a place in the top 5 over some of the more fully rounded releases. But it makes it through to my final listen-off.

Oasis - Definitely Maybe
During my Debut Albums 90-94 listening, I was quite critical of this in the context of being nowhere near the best of that era.
But taken in isolation, I still very much enjoy the album. It is a very nostalgic listen

Tori Amos and the band were amazing last night. I've said it before about Tori but it is unfair that one person can have that much talent.
The extended piano intros and bridges, and the many bits where she is playing a piano and a keyboard at the same time (back to back) were highlights.
#MusicSky
The support act Isaac Levi was very good. Was invisible to our view when at the keyboard but his voice made up for it.
Just about saw him once he got his guitar out though.
