Fairly convinced whoever is running my #1001Album generator is taking the piss. Claims the next album is bloody Limp Bizkit, with one of the most critically panned albums of my youth.

I'm gonna hit that after Brothers in Arms finishes- that was today's #1001Album
#1001album: Day 83: Jimmy Smith: Back At The Chicken Shack: 1963. This is a great discovery. Smith's soloing at the Hammond is effortlessly beautiful, smooth and cool, like a summer cocktail, a sublime jazz quartet with Stanley Turrentine: sax, Kenny Burrell: guitar and Donald Bailey: drums.
Not my choice, it's the #1001album generator.
#1001album day 2: New Order: Low-Life. Never heard this one before and I'm not a fan of the band at all, giving it a go anyway. I predict that Youtube is going be really useful in this project!

Perhaps the last great U2 album. Although Zooropa and Pop had their moments, this is the last great one end to end for me.
So many great tracks on this. Some filler, but a lot of memorable ones.

If you were to put a gun to my head, I'd probably say this is the greatest album of all time. Whilst that opinion may vary depending on mood, I'm certain Plainsong is the greatest opening track.

This is some of the smoothest funk. Smooth with a capital smooo, as the Cat would say.
Though the less said about the ridiculous final track, the better.

Depeche Mode - Music for the masses.
Very much the brooding end of synth pop, and a great example of it. Does seem a bit front loaded though, first half seems stronger than the latter.

Excellent live album. Feels like a band at the peak of their powers as a live rock band. But of course, they had a lot more power in the tank.
