A bit of a different take on the amazing Artemis II launch footage.
Here I stitched clips from the four Solar Array Wing Cameras to make this panoramic video.
This is during the later part of the Core Stage burn until MECO and stage separation, sped up to 10x. ππ§ͺ #Artemis

A spinosaur, with river water dripping off its face, and a small turtle balanced precariously upon its nose
What seemed at first to be a piece of driftwood surfaced and turned out to be a frightening surprise for this cretaceous turtle - though it has little to fear, as this spinosaur is interested in larger game.
Timed just wrong to have been the new Spinosaurus mirabilis. #sciart #drawing #paleoart
π¨New dinosaur! The latest salvo in the Spinosaurus saga.
A Spinosaurus looking like Elvis, with an outrageous bony head crest. Discovered in the Sahara by my undergrad mentor Paul Sereno & his team.
Super cool! But I'm sure nobody on the internet will care about it... π
A Sinosauropteryx, a small feathered dinosaur, runs past a fallen tree branch and focuses intently on something offscreen above him.
Sinosauropteryx, a small feathered theropod from the Early Cretaceous in what is now northeastern China. This animal is covered in primitive fiber-like feathers, and was the first dinosaur outside the Avialae to be found with evidence of feathering. #paleoart #sciart #pencil #graphite
Maybe a bit late for web timing, but ehy, NEW PAPER ON #fossilfriday!!!
I am proud to present you Haolong dongi gen. nov. sp. nov., a new hadrosauroid from the Early Cretaceous of China!
The specimen, almost complete, is a juvenile iguanodontian from the Yixian Formation of the Barremian (125 Mya).

A close up of the SLS Core Stage showing one of the new "Strakes" mounted to it. The booster can be seen to the right of the frame with the attachment point partially obscured by the fin.
A good look from Boeing today of the new strakes adorning the SLS Core Stage. These fins were added after Artemis I experienced unexpected airflow induced vibrations at the forward attachment point for the SRBs.
These smooth out the airflow around the point and reduce vibrations during launch.
'Tis the season for some festive science songs.

Pair of fossilized dinosaur teeth of a Tyrannosaurus and Albertosaurus showing both showing the tip missing.
Today is the 120th anniversary of the description of #Tyrannosaurus rex and #Albertosaurus sarcophagus in 1905 by Henry Fairfield Osborn, the two species that would define the clade, Tyrannosauridae. A pair of dinosaur teeth, albeit very worn, belonging to these two famous species. π§ͺ
59 years ago today...
For the first time, the USS Enterprise appeared on the screen. It was the beginning of a long, long journey: Star Trek. π
A huge starship, with a pair of ring-shaped habitation structures supported by a central spire. A set of engines and propellant tanks is fitted to one end. Text printed on the rings identifies the vessel as the ISGV Valeria, and each ring has a number of landmasses and oceans on its inner surface. The vehicle is in orbit of a desert planet with enough blue in its atmosphere to indicate oxygen.
Decided to try some digital art! Some experiments with light and shadow layers eventually turned into the ISGV Valeria, a generation ship with a subset of some terran ecosystems transplanted aboard.

Happy #FossilFriday! This is Maiasaura peeblesorum, the state fossil of Montana. Studies of this duck-billed dinosaur provided the first evidence that some dinosaurs cared for their babies. Come see Maiasaura bones, eggs, babies and more in Cretaceous Crossroads!

The Rhenopyrgus family of Edrioasteroids are really strange.
This is Rhenopyrgus viviani from the Silurian Jupiter Fm. of Quebec. It was named after my friend and I donated a specimen for the 2020 paper. There are also some ostracods and tentaculites on the plate.

A pencil drawing of the head and neck of a tyrannosaur. Its mouth is slightly open, and some light feathering is present at the top of its head and along its throat.
A young tyrannosaur, accidentally timed well for the discovery of Khankhuuluu. Haven't done much in the way of paleoart before, and I really enjoyed this little project! Graphite on paper. #sciart #paleoart
