As a sister title to the IJTLD, we have now launched IJTLD CRD, focussed on chronic respiratory conditions in low- and middle-income countries. All articles are open access and free to read #asthma #COPD #airpollution #smoking #longcovid #bronchiectasis #PTLD journals.theunion.org/content/ijtl...

knepp.co.uk/2025/07/the-... Apologies if this is a repeat posting about Knepp, but the recovery of butterfly numbers, and of species thought to be extinct, is such an inspiration #rewilding #knepp
Excellent - another feather in the cap for beaver reintroduction. We have to do everything possible to bring all insect species back from the brink.
In the UK we have damaged the natural environment so badly (e.g., insect species have declined by 70% over the past 30 years), so the top down approach only works for a small number of apex predators.
It's hard to feed an apex predator if you don't have the food chain below it – we have to restore nature 'bottom up', not 'top down'.
Great to see that benign neglect works so well, but it would be fascinating to see what impact large herbivores might have had on the speed and nature of rewilding. Admittedly, that's a different project...
Beautiful - so much nicer than a boring lawn!
What a wonderful, enlightened farmer. Well done Yan Swiderski!

Science break.
This kayaker gets approached by an otter every time he visits a lake. The otter was orphaned after the mother was in an accident, and the man helped it throughout it's rehabilitation process to later release it back into the wild. Volume up.🔊
It's slightly incongruous that most of the footage was of traditional farming (with huge tractors), but it's great that they're doing this. Hopefully, more natural regeneration will come to the fore over time. Best of luck!

Which 'experts' think that exactly? Rewilding is just getting started...
Were the FT really surprised that industrial farming degrades the soil?
Brilliant news!
I'm hopeful these are all signs of beavers being active in the area. At least I'm confident that the teeth marks on the cut branches are beaver, but is anyone able to identify the paw print? #rewilding #beavers #beaverbombing #pawprints
Yum, love a wild haggis. I wonder if they'll have them in Waitrose?
Interesting study design, I hope it works.
🔬In IJTLD Open, we recently launched ‘Ending the TB epidemic’ - a series of articles that bring the focus back on TB elimination.
The series includes lessons from HIV/AIDS and TB strategy insights from Western Pacific Region: pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC... #NoMoreExcuses #WorldTBDay #EndTB
Great to see that National Trust is adopting more enlightened water management practices (including use of the real water management experts, 🦫).
I googled the story - Restore Trust didn't get the votes they needed, but apparently also tried the following year.
You had me worried by the headline - and then I saw the article was from November 2023 🤣 Hopefully, Restore Trust didn't win...
It seems like every form of intensive, industrial farming is destined to fail the environment. Change is needed – and soon.
Happy Birthday! And thank you for all the wonderful work you have done – and continue to do.
Knepp, Storrington and Wadhurst - what an inspiration!
