This World Health Day, we bring attention to one of the biggest challenges in neurodegenerative diseases: late and uncertain diagnosis.
🧠 PREDICTFTD aims to transform FTD diagnosis by overcoming the current 3.6-year diagnostic delay!

Day 2 of the PREDICTFTD project meeting in Desenzano del Garda. 🌍
A focused day covering biomarker work, AI modelling, and an overview of the olfactory (nasal) swab sampling. We also had important discussions on the regulatory roadmap and ethics - important pieces as the project moves forward.
Day 1 of the PREDICTFTD consortium meeting in Desenzano del Garda!
We kicked off with updates across the project, from ongoing work packages to a really interesting demo of how our data systems are coming together.
More tomorrow.🚀

In light of Brain Awareness Week, we are preparing for our upcoming team meeting. 🌍 The PREDICTFTD partners will meet in person on March 26–27, 2026, in Desenzano del Garda, Italy.
Looking forward to two productive days of discussion and exchange. 🧠
This Brain Awareness Week, we’re spotlighting the fight against FTD. 🧠
Our goal is vital: to give clinicians the tools they need to diagnose FTD faster, enabling earlier intervention and better care. Learn more about our approach: www.predictftd.eu

For many families, FTD starts with confusion and delayed answers.
💜 This #FTDAwarenessWeek, we call for earlier recognition and better support. In PREDICTFTD, with Alzheimer Europe, lived experience guides efforts to improve diagnosis and quality of life.
It’s FTD Awareness Week
Hearing from those living with FTD shows resilience & determination beyond diagnosis.
In PREDICTFTD, board member Margaret works with Alzheimer Europe to ensure that lived experience guides research and improves outcomes for patients and caregivers.
This week is #FTDAwarenessWeek
FTD often goes unnoticed & misunderstood, yet behind every diagnosis is resilience, struggle & love.
Real experiences are vital for PREDICTFTD. Stephen, dementia advocate & board member, joins Alzheimer Europe to bring his experience to the center of awareness & change
🚀 Continuing our Partner Introduction Series: @idibaps.bsky.social
🧠 The Alzheimer’s and cognitive disorders unit specializes in early and preclinical neurodegenerative dementias. They bring valuable samples and data from previous FTD cohorts and will recruit patients for PREDICTFTD as well.
🚀We begin our partner introduction series with @erasmusmc.bsky.social, which hosts the Biomedical Imaging Group Rotterdam (BIGR) — a team of 40 brilliant AI and imaging researchers. They coordinate and oversee data infrastructure, data collection, project management, and AI model development.
In the near future, a person could walk into a clinic, provide a blood sample, and—within weeks—receive an accurate, AI-assisted diagnosis that not only detects Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) at an early stage but also identifies its molecular subtype. This is the vision of PREDICTFTD.
🚀 The PREDICTFTD Website Is Now Live! 🧠
Explore how we're working together to enable earlier and more accurate diagnosis of FTD—paving the way for tailored care and treatment.

🔬 Our Mission in PREDICTFTD
We are proud to be developing a cutting-edge diagnostic tool for the early detection of Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) — enabling tailored care and support.
Through the integration of:
✔️ Liquid biomarkers
✔️ AI-powered diagnostic algorithms
✔️ Multimodal clinical data
🧠 Why PREDICTFTD?
Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) has a debilitating effect on patients, caregivers, and healthcare systems.
🔍 While 15–30% of cases are genetic, the majority — 70–85% — are sporadic, often leading to frequent misdiagnosis and an average delay of over 3.5 years before diagnosis.
💡 Members of the PREDICTFTD Public Involvement Board gather online for the first time to discuss different aspects of a Frontotemporal dementia diagnosis. This consultation was attended and facilitated by Soraya Moradi Bachiller, Public Involvement Officer at Alzheimer Europe.
We are thrilled to share the wrap-up of the PREDICTFTD project Kick-off Meeting!
