The allure of a discovered check and those two knights look good, all serves to distract from a backwards move which are always easy to overlook.

Ha ha, would be cool. Then you could message them and tell them about lichess 😆

Exactly. Chess.com have the domain, it’s such a massive advantage. UI blows but loads of features. Lichess is free. You probably hear about both of those options first. Hard to see why you’d be enticed by something else unless it really brings something special.

Don’t think anybody came out looking too good from that fiasco. Take take take and Lichess is a strange pairing. Don’t see the enterprise succeeding though. Magnus can’t promote it and it doesn’t seem to bring much new to the table?

No, indeed. I would say that it’s a basic human right. You can’t reasonably ban both food and maths.

You also have some serious balancing skills if you can stack the grains high enough to do that. Plus both your opponent and arbiter will be dead by the time you are done.

Let’s have proper classical chess and the unwashed masses can do what they want. We don’t need rich people to make more money off something that is superficially similar to real chess. Cheering eval bars and personalities is some kind of madness. Give me a deep ideas, tactics and variations!

Not Russian, Putin is his best buddy.

I’m reminded of some of my most devastating and clever sacrifices in the past. Definitely made them on purpose 👀

I am skilled, you are lucky. That’s how it works right? 😅

What another one?!

That is a real thing but I also suspect that their internal KPIs around engagement and lifetime value or whatever else they are using don’t actually align all that well with a good recommendation engine?

Just seems like one of many false economies made by recent governments.

Genuine question as I’m ignorant on this kind of stuff. But does that point to the need to reform the law / our systems? Don’t lots of cases fall though or become subject to deals because they are too complex to fully prosecute? Getting rid of juries instinctively feels like the wrong fix to me.

The decision to end the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme has created real uncertainty for churches and faith buildings, many of which rely on local donations for essential repairs. Ministers must now make clear how they will be supported if this VAT relief ends.

Who could have predicted this?!

Typical extrovert scold. There is nothing worse than people who insist dressing up is fun 😝

In Nottinghamshire they are effectively paused as the wait time is spiralling out of control. I would imagine it’s the same right across the country…

Of course specifics matter etc But I think this talk of spontaneous communication is overblown. When working remotely you just need to be a bit more deliberate and pro-active about it. It’s partly about relearning how to operate in a remote team.

You also get more choice from both sides. If it’s a skilled job why would you limit yourself to your local talent pool? Equally as a job seeker I can find something that better matches my skills and motivations than the two jobs that happen to by in my local town.

Offices don’t come cheap either. But if your staff are less productive at home I would argue that’s likely a management issue not a location issue.

The tyranny of the extroverts who talk for a living. Not sure how being more tired and poorer and in a noisy environment full of interruptions is going to help concentrate on my work. But I’m sure RTO is the best way to attract talent and make work accessible to those with health issues…

One hopes it’s an accidental mouse slip / keyboard shortcut thing. But I guess you have to ask them. Of course dysfunctional behaviour is a distinct possibility unfortunately…

Too obviously satire, had they said it was a new chess.com rule to boost streaming figures I would have believed it.

Unfortunately, school shootings tell us it's going to be a lot if ever.

We’ll see.. Don’t be fooled by the shades 😅 Only really been Poland and Germany who have been properly ramping up their military spending.

Been so slow to get their act together. Still not really facing up to reality, when they should have been making preparations for Trump 2.0 in the run up to the elections.
