Instead of working on the draft for my client, I got distracted this morning by #tatting! I designed my first pattern. It's a little wonky, but designing (and then creating) a pattern taught me a lot. Now it's time to have lunch, and THEN work on calligraphy (or make a mate for this earring...🤔).

Here's a peek at my process for my first #WIPWednesday! I'm working on a family tree project for a client, and I needed to write out all the names to get final dimensions. The next step is centering the #lettering, and then I'll do a draft with the pointed pen (instead of just a monoline pencil).

My italics are a bit rusty at the moment, but for an unplanned piece, I'm pretty pleased.

I'm new to Bluesky, and your post popped up in a search for gouache. I immediately recognized Ithaca Falls! Gorgeous work.
